11 bit studios and Carbonara have revealed Crop, a dark and unusual farming game planned for release on PC through Steam. They haven’t announced when the game will be available yet.

About

In Crop, you’re caught in a tense farming thriller where survival hinges on your harvest. Stuck on a failing farm, you’ll need to plow, plant, water, and reap your way through the rot. Discover hidden secrets both underground and within the nearby village. The only path to escape is to see the harvest through.

Story and Setting

You suddenly find yourself in a strange, dreamlike world, specifically a tiny village cut off from everything by a massive storm. The villagers need your help running a farm to ensure everyone has enough to eat while they wait for the storm to pass. As you work to keep them fed, you’ll learn about the village and its people, all while trying to uncover the mystery of how you arrived and what’s really happening.

Feeling lost and unsure who to believe, the player explores, trying to understand the situation and find a way out, uncovering disturbing secrets along the way. This happens at their own pace as they manage the farm and play the game. Soon, they become involved in the problems of the town. One villager even tries to bribe you to give them your crops directly. As tensions rise and people get hungrier, the villagers become more and more restless. It’s strange, though – why isn’t anyone coming to help from the outside?
