7 MCU Heroes We’re Desperate to See Team Up With the X-Men

The X-Men are finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Though the Fantastic Four came first, the mutants are expected to appear by the time Avengers: Doomsday is released. For years, the X-Men were unavailable for the MCU because the film rights were held by Fox. However, with Disney now owning Fox’s Marvel characters, and the Fantastic Four already integrated, it’s likely we’ll see the X-Men interact with existing MCU heroes who have ties to them in the Marvel comics.

Here is a look at the MCU heroes we want to see teaming up with the X-Men in the movies.

7) Namor

The introduction of Namor into the Marvel Cinematic Universe before the X-Men is a smart move. Since Namor is actually Marvel’s original mutant – a fact established in the comics – it sets up the possibility of him teaming up with the X-Men when they finally appear. He’s even been a member of the X-Men before! Given reports that the X-Men’s first adventure will take place in the Savage Land, it makes sense that Namor could be involved too.

6) Hulk

There’s talk that Hulk will become incredibly wild in the current Spider-Man storyline, and early clues suggest Jean Grey might be the cause. This could lead to a conflict between Hulk and the X-Men, potentially giving Marvel Cinematic Universe fans the fight they’ve always wanted: Hulk versus Wolverine. It’s worth remembering that Wolverine actually first appeared in The Incredible Hulk comics, making a showdown between these two characters a long-awaited moment for many fans.

5) Black Panther

There’s talk that when the X-Men join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they’ll be portrayed as younger versions of the characters, similar to what was done in the X-Men: First Class movies. Reports suggest Sadie Sink will play a young Jean Grey, making it likely the new team will consist of younger heroes – possibly including Storm. This opens up interesting possibilities, like a potential romance between a young Storm and a young T’Challa (the son of the original Black Panther). Even if a romance doesn’t happen, a dynamic between Storm and Shuri could be a great addition to the MCU.

4) Scarlet Witch

In Marvel Comics, the Scarlet Witch has caused immense harm to mutants. Her infamous declaration, “No more mutants,” resulted in the loss of powers for most of the mutant population and led to many deaths. She also drastically altered reality in the House of M storyline, establishing her family, including Magneto, as the rulers of the Marvel Universe. Although she seemingly died, it’s likely Wanda is still alive, and her return could create compelling dynamics with the X-Men, particularly involving Magneto.

3) Wonder Man

The 2026 Disney+ series Wonder Man is considered one of the best Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) shows ever created, and it successfully introduced the character to audiences. The show cleverly reimagined Wonder Man’s backstory. Instead of gaining his powers unwillingly through Baron Zemo as in the comics, the series hinted that he might actually be a mutant, based on his account of how he got them. This change is significant because, in the original comics, his connection to Zemo led to his membership with the Avengers. However, if he is a mutant, and given that Damage Control is closely monitoring him, he may need the help of those familiar with being hunted – making the X-Men a more suitable fit for Wonder Man within the MCU than the Avengers.

2) Kamala Khan

Before the Marvel Cinematic Universe officially suggested Wonder Man was a mutant, the Disney+ show Ms. Marvel actually had a character refer to Kamala Khan as a mutant. While many fans anticipate Kamala will lead a team like the Young Avengers or Champions alongside heroes such as Kate Bishop and Ironheart, it would also make sense – and be exciting – if she joined forces with the X-Men to better understand her mutant abilities. We can expect her to be close friends with Kate and Ironheart, but seeing her connect with characters like Jean Grey and Kitty Pryde could create some really compelling stories.

1) Spider-Man

As a critic, I’ve been thinking about where Spider-Man fits into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, and honestly, a team-up with the X-Men makes perfect sense. We’re already hearing rumors of Jean Grey appearing in a future Spider-Man film, which is a great first step. But beyond that, there’s a bigger story brewing. It looks like Damage Control might try to exploit Spider-Man, turning him against other heroes, and that’s a conflict ripe for exploration. However, what I really want to see – what fans deserve – is a full-blown buddy-cop dynamic between Spider-Man and Wolverine. Their comic book relationship is legendary, and bringing that energy to the MCU would be fantastic. It’s a pairing that’s not just logical, but would deliver a huge emotional payoff, much like we’re hoping for with Hulk’s eventual return.
