Meghan Trainor is all about protecting her baby girl.
Meghan Trainor, known for her hit song “All About That Bass,” recently discussed her experiences as a mother. She and her husband, Daryl Sabara, welcomed their third child, Mikey Moon, in January through surrogacy.
Meghan shared that she worried people would react negatively to her decision to use a surrogate, and that concern grew after she faced criticism for losing sixty pounds.
During an April 9th episode of Kylie Kelce’s podcast, Not Gonna Lie, Meghan explained that she avoided reading the comments. She anticipated negativity, knowing she was already receiving criticism for changing her appearance and prioritizing self-care. ‘I figured they’d hate this too,’ she said, admitting she spent many nights crying with worry.
I just want my daughter to be accepted and not judged for how she was conceived. That was my biggest worry, honestly. Luckily, I had incredible support from my team, my therapist, and everyone around me. My husband was fiercely protective and told anyone who had a problem to essentially mind their own business.
Meghan, who is also a mother to five-year-old Riley and two-year-old Barry, and her husband were concerned about having a daughter through surrogacy, on top of any public reaction they might face.
It was a really difficult decision, and I was having health problems, even starting to show signs of an autoimmune disease,” the Grammy winner shared. “We talked about it a lot, and ultimately decided that using a surrogate was the safest option for everyone involved.

She also struggled with anxiety, explaining that she often felt like she was losing her mind knowing her daughter was still alive but being raised by someone else.
It took a lot of effort, but we were incredibly lucky to have a wonderful surrogate. She kept us updated with texts and we were able to communicate with her frequently.
Even though the surrogacy experience was challenging, singer Meghan Trainor found some positive aspects. Notably, because she’d previously had two children by C-section, she didn’t have to go through physical recovery after her daughter was born.

She explained that recovering from a C-section with a new baby felt different than previous recoveries. This time, she could truly focus on her newborn and her other children without worrying about physical limitations – she wasn’t concerned about them being too rough or unable to pick them up and enjoy being present with them.
Meghan and Daryl were overjoyed to welcome their first daughter, and they shared heartwarming photos from the birth on Instagram on January 20th.
