The spring 2026 anime season is now underway, with new shows premiering daily. This season offers a good mix of returning favorites and brand new series. While it might not be quite as packed with hits as the winter season, there are still a lot of popular anime currently airing.
With so many new anime out this season, deciding what to watch can be tough. Starting a new series requires a time commitment, and it can be risky if you’re not sure you’ll enjoy it. To help, we’ve chosen three anime that are definitely worth adding to your watch list – you won’t be disappointed!
3) Daemons of the Shadow Realm

I was immediately drawn into the mysterious world of Daemons of the Shadow Realm. The story starts with this fascinating idea that your destiny is decided when you’re born. It centers around twins – one born at night, and one during the day – and the differences in their lives. As the story progressed, I learned that the brother, Yuru, was allowed to live freely, while his sister, Asa, was kept locked away inside their home. Yuru remained very close to her, acting as a protective and loving brother.
The story takes an unexpected turn when soldiers attack their village, revealing a surprisingly modern world hidden beneath a seemingly ancient, ritualistic surface. This creates a stark contrast that immediately raises the stakes. We soon learn Yuru has mysterious powers he’s still learning to control, but he’s determined to use them to protect his sister. With its captivating start and constant twists, Daemons of the Shadow Realm is a promising anime that looks set to deliver an engaging experience this season.
2) Akane-banashi

Everyone was looking forward to the new anime Akane-banashi, and the first episode didn’t disappoint! It feels familiar to other popular action series from Shonen Jump, but also offers a unique and refreshing take on the genre. While the changes are subtle, it still delivers everything fans love about the series.
This anime shines as a heartwarming and energetic story, similar to shows like Haikyuu!!, and is perfect for viewers looking for a motivational series. While the focus on rakugo – a traditional Japanese comedic storytelling art – might be different, it’s surprisingly effective. The story immediately grabs your attention as Akane begins her journey to honor her father and avenge his fate. Ultimately, it feels like a breath of fresh air compared to most action-packed anime, making it highly recommended for those wanting something new.
1) Witch Hat Atelier

Both Akane-banashi and Witch Hat Atelier were eagerly awaited anime releases, but they arrived under different circumstances. Akane-banashi was a new shonen series, while Witch Hat Atelier was an adaptation of a popular seinen manga that already had a dedicated fanbase. The anime version of Witch Hat Atelier didn’t just meet expectations—it exceeded them, largely thanks to the impressive work of Bug Films in bringing the manga to life.
With beautiful animation and captivating sound, this series is remarkably well-made. But what truly makes it special is its imaginative story, which gives the main character, Coco, a strong reason to pursue her dream of becoming a witch and wonderfully shows her growth. Witch Hat Atelier could easily be the best new anime of Spring 2026, and it’s already a top pick for the best anime of the year.
