Borderlands Mobile Soft Launches on iOS, Developed by Zynga With Gearbox’s “Guidance”

Okay, so I’m really excited to hear that Zynga and Gearbox are teaming up to bring Borderlands to mobile! Apparently, Zynga’s NaturalMotion studio has been figuring out how to get more people playing the game, and they’re actually doing a limited test of Borderlands on smartphones right now. From what I understand, Zynga did most of the work on building the game, but Gearbox was heavily involved in making sure it felt like Borderlands – they gave a lot of input on the story, characters, and the overall world. It’s cool to see them working together to bring this to a new platform!

Zynga is looking for ways to bring the world of Borderlands to more players. Their NaturalMotion studio is currently testing a new Borderlands mobile game. Gearbox, the creators of Borderlands, are helping to ensure the game stays true to the franchise’s story and style. Zynga hopes players will enjoy this new experience and welcomes their thoughts.

Rumors about a Borderlands mobile game began when Borderlands Mobile appeared on the App Store. The game, currently exclusive to iPhone, is a free-to-play shooter being developed by Zynga. The App Store description highlights action-packed gameplay specifically designed for mobile devices, and promises a similar experience to the original Borderlands games – completing missions and defeating enemies to earn new gear.

The quiet release of Borderlands Mobile suggests Zynga is testing the game slowly. They’ve launched it in a few select countries and on certain platforms first, allowing initial players to try it out and provide feedback. This helps the company refine the game before releasing it worldwide.

Gameplay videos of Borderlands Mobile are now available on YouTube, giving players a first look at how the game plays. As demonstrated in a video by Techzamazing, the game starts with a short cutscene to get newcomers up to speed with the Borderlands series. But the action quickly begins, and Borderlands Mobile keeps the same fast-paced shooting gameplay that fans love.

It’s not surprising that Zynga is partnering with Gearbox Entertainment to create a mobile version of Borderlands. Last year, the head of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, mentioned they planned to use Zynga’s skills to bring their popular game franchises to mobile devices.

As a huge fan of Take-Two’s games, I was so excited to hear about them buying Zynga! Apparently, it’s going to mean we’ll finally be able to play franchises like Red Dead, GTA, Borderlands, and NBA 2K on our phones! The head of Take-Two, Zelnick, said this will help them reach a whole new audience who don’t own PCs or consoles, which is awesome!

We have a fantastic library of game franchises for consoles and PCs, and surprisingly, very few of them have been adapted for mobile or free-to-play gaming globally. We think Zynga’s talented development teams can help us bring these games to a wider audience.

As a gamer, what I’m hearing is they’re really good at getting free-to-play mobile games into our hands, and making sure we actually enjoy them. The cool part is, they’re aiming to build games we’ll want to keep playing and maybe spend a little money on along the way. They’ve got tons of ideas and it’s all super new, but honestly, I’m excited to see what they come up with – they think it’s going to be something special, and I’m hoping they’re right!
