Elle Fanning‘s latest project required more than one personality.
The actress not only played aspiring writer Margo Millet in the new series Margo’s Got Money Troubles, but she also secretly portrayed the character’s online persona, HungryGhost, on OnlyFans.
Elle shared in a recent interview with TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi that she particularly enjoys the handmade feel of the costumes in HungryGhost. She mentioned that one of the characters, Susie – played by Thaddea Graham – is her roommate and a talented cosplayer who actually designs many of the outfits.
We were brainstorming, really trying to imagine what Susie would create for Margo, and it was such a fun process! We all got really into thinking about it.
Elle Fanning, 28, is also an executive producer on the show, alongside her sister Dakota Fanning. She really embraced the visual style of her OnlyFans persona.
She remembered thinking, ‘Let’s just paint me blue!’ So, it took a long time to get ready on those days, as they had to cover her in turquoise paint. But she actually enjoyed the process.
For Margo, the HungryGhost project wasn’t just about the striking blue makeup. It represented a vital outlet for her creativity while she worked hard to provide for herself and her child as a single parent.
Elle described the main character as a hopeful writer at the start of the series, full of ambition. However, unexpected challenges arise, leading her to believe she needs to abandon her goals and dreams.
She explained that creating HungryGhost allowed her to revisit and realize some long-held dreams, bringing a sense of renewed energy and excitement.

Elle, who has been dating Gus Wenner since 2023, doesn’t have children of her own, but she related to Margo’s feelings about becoming a mother and how those feelings influenced Margo’s choice to create adult content.
You know, when I really think about what motivates so many parents, it always comes back to love – a deep, unwavering love for their kids. It’s that incredible desire to give them opportunities and a life even better than their own. That’s the core of it, really – that’s where all the strength and sacrifice comes from, in my experience.
The new series Margo’s Got Money Troubles will debut on Apple TV+ on April 15th with the first three episodes available immediately. After that, new episodes will be released every Wednesday until May 20th.
As fans wait to see Elle on the small screen, keep reading for more TV premieres to keep an eye on.
