Warning! This article contains spoilers from The Boys season 5, episodes 1 and 2.
Similar to past seasons, season 5 of The Boys will feature several new characters with unique superpowers. The show has always centered around two main groups: The Boys, who are determined to fight against corrupt superheroes (known as Supes), and the Supes themselves, who are the target of their efforts.
Okay, so season 5 of The Boys is really leaning into the whole ‘Supes running the world’ thing. It’s wild – Homelander is basically President now, and he’s got this seriously powerful team of super-powered advisors, politicians, and enforcers making sure everything goes his way. But things are different on our side too. Butcher’s got powers now, just like Kimiko and Starlight, and Starlight is really stepping up as the public face of opposition against Homelander – a total contrast to him.
Even though The Boys already has a lot of characters with superpowers, season 5 will add even more new Supes, each with unique backgrounds, abilities, and powers.
Oh-Father
In season 5 of The Boys, Oh-Father is introduced as a key figure and the new husband of Ashley. He acts as a spokesperson for Homelander’s increasingly powerful regime. Their marriage was strategically arranged to improve public opinion of Vought’s leadership, leveraging Ashley’s position as Vice President and Homelander’s control over her – and, by extension, the country.
Homelander and Ashley are gaining support from religious groups, a tactic previously used by the Supe Firecracker. Oh-Father specifically leverages his powers to appeal to these communities, most notably through a sonic voice that can sway people’s opinions – we saw this during A-Train’s staged funeral in Season 5, Episode 2 of The Boys.
We haven’t learned much about Oh-Father or his powers yet. However, the rest of The Boys season 5 will likely reveal more about him.
Ashley
Ashley has been a key character in The Boys since the beginning, but season 5 marks her debut as a fully powered Supe. While she injected herself with Compound V at the end of season 4, the show didn’t show us the effects. Now, in season 5, Ashley is the Vice President and has developed the power of telepathy – she can read minds.
Ashley hints at certain insights – like understanding what a reporter is thinking – and her interview with her husband, Oh-Father, suggests more is going on. Though it seemed her story might be over, the latest episode of The Boys season 5 reveals a troubling consequence of the Compound V injection.
Throughout the earlier seasons of the show, Ashley’s developing powers were only subtly hinted at through her hair loss. This seems to be addressed in season 5 of The Boys, where it’s revealed she’s been wearing a wig. The reason for the wig is even stranger: Ashley actually grew a second face on the back of her head after injecting herself with something.
Similar to Voldemort’s creature in the first Harry Potter book, Ashley has a living being attached to the back of her head. This could be how she reads minds, especially since it’s like having an extra brain. For now, it’s just a theory. We don’t yet know what this second face is, what it does, or how it will affect the story, but it definitely marks Ashley as one of the unusual new Supes in season 5 of The Boys.
Sheline
The newest group of superheroes in season 5 of The Boys, called Teenage Kix, was briefly mentioned before but fully introduced in the first two episodes. One standout member is Sheline, who is clearly based on the popular character Catwoman. As you’d expect from a parody, Sheline has abilities similar to those of a cat.
Sheline is incredibly strong and quick, with sharp claws capable of hurting even powerful Supers like Kimiko. During their fight, she playfully coughed up a hairball, hinting she might have cat-like abilities. We didn’t see much else of what Sheline can do, suggesting the show will explore her powers further in future episodes of The Boys season 5.
Jetstreak
Jetstreak is a character introduced in the first two episodes of The Boys season 5 as a member of Teenage Kix. While he appears to be the leader of the group, his superpowers are pretty standard for a typical superhero. Unlike Supes like Homelander with his laser vision or The Deep who controls water, Jetstreak doesn’t have any truly unique or defining abilities.
Jetstreak’s abilities were limited to flying and being stronger than an average person. He was tougher than most, but not nearly as durable as someone like Soldier Boy – Soldier Boy survived the Supe Virus that instantly killed Jetstreak, proving a clear difference in their resilience.
Rock Hard
I’m really intrigued by Rock Hard in season 5 of The Boys. He’s one of the Teenage Kix and incredibly strong – his skin is practically rock, making him super durable. Butcher seems determined to use him as a test subject for the Supe Virus, hoping it’ll be potent enough to finally bring down Homelander. It’s a risky move, but Butcher needs to know if the virus will actually work against someone that powerful.
Rock Hard’s main power comes from his incredibly tough, stone-like skin, but he has other abilities too. In typical The Boys fashion, he can create lava by ejecting it, which then hardens and adds to his already massive rock fortress. Because his body isn’t like a normal human’s, Rock Hard can also hold his breath for an unbelievably long time.
Countess Crow
Countess Crow is a new character introduced in the fifth season of The Boys. We first see her recording a makeup video in her room, and she quickly demonstrates her powers by attacking Mother’s Milk with a flock of crows. It’s clear that her Supe ability involves controlling and communicating with these birds.
Although Countess Crow’s powers weren’t prominently featured in The Boys season 5, episode 2, she played a key part in the plot. She’s presented as the most ethical member of Teenage Kix, revealing she follows Vought’s orders but secretly longs for a normal life. This leads Mother’s Milk to let her go, allowing her to escape and potentially reappear later in season 5.
Worm
In the first two episodes of The Boys season 5, we meet Worm, the newest Supe. Billy Butcher hired Worm to tunnel into the Vought compound to reach MM, Frenchie, and Hughie. Worm didn’t need shovels or picks – his Supe powers, as his name suggests, allowed him to dig using his own abilities.
Worm is a superhero in The Boys who literally eats dirt and then expels it. This unique ability makes him another bizarre and over-the-top character in the show, drawing inspiration from real-life creatures. While it’s unknown if Worm had any other powers, his short appearance in season 5 is definitely unforgettable.
