A Harry Potter Star’s Lowest Rated Movie Just Became Free to Stream

Daniel Radcliffe is best known for playing Harry Potter, but he’s built a really diverse career beyond that role. He’s been in several successful stage productions, including shows on Broadway like Equus, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Merrily We Roll Along. He’s also starred in films like Swiss Army Man, The Lost City, and even played “Weird Al” Yankovic in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Recently, one of his lesser-known – and lowest-rated – films became available for free streaming, and many people seem to have forgotten about it.

The 2018 crime thriller Beast of Burden is now available on Tubi. Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Grace Gummer, Robert Wisdom, and Pablo Schreiber, the film centers on Sean Haggerty, a former Air Force pilot who smuggles drugs across the U.S.-Mexico border. During what he intends to be his last job, Sean is caught between the DEA and a dangerous cartel when his wife unexpectedly becomes involved.

Radcliffe’s Beast of Burden Role is Nothing Like Harry Potter

The most notable thing about Beast of Burden is how successfully Daniel Radcliffe has distanced himself from his role as Harry Potter. He’s consistently chosen diverse roles since leaving the Wizarding World, and this film truly showcases that commitment. Radcliffe delivers a strong performance as Sean, effectively portraying the complex emotions of a man trying to save his marriage, complete one last dangerous job, and cope with an unexpected threat from a cartel. As Sean’s story unfolds, Radcliffe convincingly shows a man at his lowest point, grappling with feelings of failure and facing constant setbacks.

Despite a fantastic performance by Daniel Radcliffe, the movie Beast of Burden isn’t very good overall. Critics and audiences alike found the script weak and the story poorly constructed, with unbelievable plot twists and a quickly stale premise. It currently has a low 25% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and an even lower 11% from viewers. However, the film is still worth a watch just to see Radcliffe, who proves he’s much more than just Harry Potter. You can stream it for free on Tubi this month.
