In recent times, the popular animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender has experienced a significant revival, not solely due to Netflix’s live-action remake. The original creators have been summoned back by Paramount to craft fresh tales in the bending world through Avatar Studios. Enthusiasts of the franchise have already caught a glimpse of what’s next, with Avatar: Seven Havens being hinted at for quite some time now. This new animated series promises to revisit the original animated universe with a new Avatar, set after the events of The Legend of Korra. At San Diego Comic-Con, fans have been given a sneak peek into this exciting new show.
This year’s San Diego Comic-Con featured a significant celebration for “Avatar: The Last Airbender” as it marked the 20th anniversary of the franchise. Nickelodeon organized an exclusive panel titled “Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender 20th Anniversary Panel,” bringing together several original voice actors to commemorate the series. As described by Paramount, this event promises a unique exploration of the Avatar-verse’s legacy, inviting fans to join Zach Tyler Eisen (Aang), Jack DeSena (Sokka), Michaela Jill Murphy (Toph), Jennie Kwan (Suki), Dante Basco (Zuko), Dee Bradley Baker (Appa), series composer Jeremy Zuckerman, and creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. The panel will be moderated by Janet Varney, who voices Korra. To add excitement, the first image of the new cast of characters was unveiled!
What is Seven Havens?
A young Earthbender finds out she is the new Avatar, following Korra. However, in this perilous age, being the Avatar means she is seen as a destroyer of humanity rather than its savior. Pursued by both human and spirit adversaries, she and her long-lost twin must explore their enigmatic past and save the Seven Havens before the last remaining strongholds crumble.
Though an official release date remains undisclosed, it’s hinted that Seven Havens will launch in 2027, as reported by Toy World Magazine. This upcoming animated series introduces a challenging new universe unlike those faced by Aang or Korra. It’s worth noting that Seven Havens isn’t the only Avatar Studios production, as The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender (slated for release next year) will delve into Aang’s maturity. With these exciting projects on the horizon, it’s an excellent time for bending enthusiasts more than two decades after the original series premiere.
