Xbox Game Pass subscribers received a surprising announcement this week: Microsoft is lowering the price of the service. After raising prices last year, Xbox is now reducing the cost of Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. This price change means new Call of Duty games won’t be available on the service on release day anymore. However, day-one releases won’t disappear completely – Microsoft confirmed six new games will be available on Game Pass from day one during today’s ID @ Xbox event.
The ID@Xbox showcase recently revealed a bunch of indie games coming to Xbox consoles and Xbox Game Pass. While many titles are headed to the subscription service eventually, six games will be available on Game Pass the very day they launch this year. That’s great news for Game Pass subscribers who enjoy playing new releases, and this group of games looks particularly promising.
Fresh Wave of Day One Xbox Game Pass Releases Confirmed
Each month brings a fresh set of games to Xbox Game Pass, which is always great news for subscribers. However, getting a game on the very day it launches is especially appealing. It’s fun to play alongside everyone else, and it’s all included with your subscription! Today’s ID@Xbox showcase revealed several new games coming to Game Pass on day one, and I’m particularly looking forward to one of them. Here’s a list of all the day-one games announced during the showcase.
Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School
I’m really excited about this new puzzle game! It’s called Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School, and it’s all about solving a mystery at school – think escape room style puzzles. You can play it by yourself or team up with a friend, which is awesome. The best part? It’s coming to Xbox Game Pass the day it releases later this year, so we won’t have to wait to play!
Deep Dish Dungeon
I’ve been excited about this game for a while now! It’s a unique blend of classic dungeon exploration and cooking simulation. Think of it as a more realistic and playable version of Delicious in Dungeon, where you collect ingredients while adventuring. What you cook matters because each dish provides different boosts to your character’s stats, making your cooking skills crucial for surviving the dungeons. Deep Dish Dungeon is scheduled to launch in Fall 2026 and will be available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers from day one.
Mistfall Hunter
If you prefer action RPGs to puzzle games, and enjoy a darker fantasy setting, keep an eye on Mistfall Hunter. This game features challenging, *Soulslike combat and will be available on Xbox Game Pass the day it launches. It’s scheduled for release in July 2026 and supports solo play or cooperative play with up to two other players.
Speedrunners 2: King of Speed
Speedrunners 2, the fast-paced racing platformer, is coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one! This sequel features fresh levels, new characters, and tons of power-ups to take the rivalry to the next level. Players can expect to jump into the action when it releases in July 2026.
There Are No Ghosts at the Grand
By day, you’ll restore a beautiful hotel, but by night, you’ll defend it from terrifying supernatural forces! ‘There Are No Ghosts at the Grand’ will be available from the start!
— Xbox Game Pass (@XboxGamePass) April 23, 2026
Today’s ID @ Xbox Showcase kicked off with a trailer for No Ghosts at the Grand, a unique game that blends hotel management with spooky investigations. During the day, you’ll fix up a grand hotel, but at night, you’ll be delving into terrifying mysteries. No Ghosts at the Grand is slated for release in 2026 and will be available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers from day one.
inKONBINI: One Store. Many Stories
This game was a bit of a surprise announcement. While it wasn’t specifically mentioned as being available on day one during today’s presentation, the trailer did confirm it’s coming to Xbox consoles, PC, and Xbox Cloud. The Xbox Game Pass logo appeared on screen, and the Microsoft Store currently lists the game, inKONBINI, as “coming soon” to Game Pass. With a launch date of April 30th, it’s probably safe to assume it will be added to Game Pass on day one – which is great news, as I’ve been wanting to play this for a while!
So, are any of these games hitting Game Pass and grabbing your attention? Let me know in the comments – I’m always looking for what others are excited about, and we can chat about it over on the ComicBook Forum!
