The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender Leaker Reportedly Arrested

Leaks continue to be a significant problem for the entertainment industry, affecting movies, TV shows, and other content. Recently, fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender were surprised to discover that spoilers and footage from the new movie had been leaked online—and even the entire film became available illegally. The movie, which faced controversy after Paramount delayed its release and made it a streaming exclusive, now has news regarding the source of the leak: the person responsible has reportedly been arrested.

A 26-year-old man in Singapore has been arrested after an investigation into the leak of episodes from “The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.” According to The Straits Times, police say the man accessed a media server without permission on April 16th, and was identified and arrested within 24 hours of the report. He is currently being investigated for unauthorized access to online content, a crime that could result in up to seven years in prison, a fine of up to $50,000 USD, or both. Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s name.

The Legend of Aang’s Controversial Release

The upcoming movie is a continuation of the beloved series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, taking place several years after the original and before the events of The Legend of Korra. It will follow Aang and his friends as adults as they face a new danger. While originally planned for movie theaters, the film will now debut exclusively on Paramount+ on October 9th, with a new cast providing the voices for the characters. Paramount is also planning to further expand the Avatar universe with a new television series called Avatar: Seven Havens.

Michaela Jill Murphy, the original voice of Toph in Avatar: The Last Airbender, has asked fans to avoid watching leaked footage of the upcoming sequel. She explained that respecting the creators, cast (including herself), and the artistry involved means waiting to see the film when it’s officially released. She specifically requested that fans refrain from sharing, watching, or discussing any leaked content.
