Storage Wars’ Darrell Sheets Was “Terrified for His Life” Before Death

Darrell Sheets was in a dark place before his death.

I was so incredibly saddened to hear about the passing of Dave Hester from Storage Wars. It’s just heartbreaking. He was only 67. In the weeks leading up to his death on April 22nd, he’d been talking about the awful bullying he was getting on social media, and his co-star, Laura Dotson, has said he was really hurting more than anyone knew. It’s just a terrible loss, and it really highlights how damaging online harassment can be.

According to his family, this has been going on for three years,” Dotson shared with Us Weekly in an April 24th interview. “It can affect anyone, even those you’d expect to be resilient. Cyberbullying is a serious issue, and it clearly had a negative impact on him, making him feel inadequate.

Honestly, hearing Dotson talk about it really stuck with me. He was genuinely afraid – not just for himself, but for everyone nearby. He had no idea why anyone would want to target him, which made it even more frightening, I think.

For three decades, Sheets made a living buying the contents of abandoned storage units at auction. Recently, he publicly challenged someone online who was spreading false rumors about him.

I was so shocked to find out my Facebook account was hacked a few days ago! Someone really awful got in and started posting things that just weren’t true – things about my personal life and completely made-up stories. I want to be clear: I’m not gay, and I definitely haven’t posted anything about anyone who owns an arcade. I’m honestly devastated and feel completely violated by this. The hacker even threatened to do this, and now it’s happened. Please believe me, anything posted that doesn’t sound like me, isn’t! It’s incredibly upsetting.

Sheets reported being harassed in person, stating that people were coming to his workplace with the intention of hurting him.

Police say Michael Sheets was found dead at a home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, on April 22nd, according to a statement to TopMob News.

Around 2 a.m., police were called to a scene where a man was found dead. He was pronounced dead at the location, and authorities suspect suicide, but are continuing to investigate.

After learning of his death, Laura fondly remembered Sheets as a genuinely kind and loving man of faith.

Besides being a man of faith and running his business finding good deals, Sheets loved music and cherished time with his family, especially his partner, Kimber Naisbitt Pino.

He describes Kimber as his soulmate and greatest champion of his unusual career. Together, they have four wonderful grandchildren and a blended family of four children – two each – which he cherishes.
