Steam is currently offering three PC games as free downloads, but the offer doesn’t last long. Two games are available until April 27th, while one disappears on April 26th. Steam Deck owners will find varying levels of compatibility – one game is fully verified, another is playable, and the third hasn’t been tested. Luckily, Steam Deck users can easily try them out with minimal risk, only needing to free up some storage space.
Just so you know, all three Steam games are completely free to download and keep – you don’t need a subscription or have a limited time to play. These aren’t trial versions or demos; they’re the full games. While they might not be the newest releases, any recent game on Steam usually requires a purchase.
Nocturnal
Released in 2023 by Sunnyside Games and Dear Villagers, Nocturnal is a fast-paced action-platformer for PC. Players take on the role of Ardeshir, a soldier of the Enduring Flame, who returns home after a long absence to find his homeland overrun by chaos and in desperate need of rescue. The game currently holds a score of 81 on Metacritic.
The free game on Steam is currently very popular, with 425 user reviews and a 90% positive rating – earning it a “Very Positive” designation. It’s also one of only three free PC games that are confirmed to work well with the Steam Deck, but the free offer ends on April 26th.
8AM
Released in 2024, 8AM is a casual game developed by David Gallardo and published by HeadArrow. The game puts a unique spin on the home surveillance genre – you’re the one being watched and trapped inside the house.
The free Steam game, available at no cost until April 27th, currently has 106 user reviews and a strong 82% positive rating. This earns it a “Very Positive” overall assessment, similar to the previous game mentioned.
Burning Skies Arcade
Unlike the other two games, Burning Skies Arcade is always free to play, but it will no longer be available after April 27th, so you’ll need to get it soon if you want to try it. Released in 2024, it’s a classic-style shooting game where you pilot a craft to save your city from attack.
Since it launched, the free PC game has received 86 reviews from users, and a strong 77% of them are positive, earning it a “Mostly Positive” rating.
