In Marvel Comics, characters rarely stay dead. While most heroes can die and eventually return through some story-driven event, a select few are essentially unkillable. They possess abilities like invulnerability, incredible healing, or even retroactive immortality, making it nearly impossible to keep them deceased. For these superheroes, true, lasting death is practically unattainable.
Marvel’s superheroes are incredibly resilient. They bounce back from even the most severe injuries as if they were minor. They can even come back to life after being completely destroyed, allowing them to keep fighting. Villains would be wise to think twice before challenging heroes with this kind of power.
10) Wolverine

Beyond his incredibly strong claws and fierce personality, Wolverine is famous for his amazing ability to heal. This healing factor has drastically slowed his aging, meaning he’s lived for over a hundred years. He’s survived unbelievable injuries – everything from having the adamantium ripped from his skeleton to being swallowed by the Hulk and even being blown up into just bones! Despite all this, he always bounces back, usually angrier than injured. While he can die – he still needs to breathe, and his healing has limits – Wolverine is a remarkably tough and resilient hero who’s incredibly difficult to keep down for good.
9) Deadpool

Deadpool, much like Wolverine, is famous for being incredibly hard to kill. While a lot of his healing power goes towards fighting his cancer, he still recovers from unbelievably severe injuries – things like being blown up, eaten, stabbed, melted, burned to a crisp, and even decapitated! His ability to heal is actually supposed to be better than Wolverine’s. It got even stronger when Thanos cursed him with immortality, preventing him from ever being with the person he loves, Lady Death. So, despite what many heroes might want, it doesn’t look like Deadpool will be dying anytime soon.
8) Iceman

It’s hard to believe that Bobby Drake, now known as Iceman, started out just throwing snowballs! He’s become one of the most powerful mutants, with complete control over ice and the ability to turn his entire body into ice. What’s truly incredible is that even if Iceman is broken apart or melted, he can reform by drawing moisture from the air and refreezing it. This ability works even if he’s seriously injured in his human form. As long as there’s any water or ice present, Iceman can always recover and survive.
7) Ghost Rider

Johnny Blaze transforms into the Ghost Rider by bonding with the powerful, immortal spirit Zarathos, making him incredibly resilient. As Ghost Rider, he’s nearly impossible to physically harm and heals instantly from any injury – even something as devastating as the Hulk crushing his skull. Only attacks that target his soul or use holy power can truly hurt him. Ghost Rider is exceptionally powerful, and it would take a miracle to destroy him permanently.
6) Wonder Man

Wonder Man, formerly Simon Williams, used to be vulnerable, but he’s now become an immortal being made of pure energy. This transformation grants him incredible strength and makes him nearly indestructible. He doesn’t age and has no need for basic life functions like eating, sleeping, or breathing. Because he’s made of energy instead of flesh and bone, he’s highly resistant to injury and can instantly heal from even the most serious wounds. Even if his energy form is scattered, he can always reform himself. Wonder Man perfectly demonstrates the principle that energy can neither be created nor destroyed.
5) Sentry

Bob Reynolds, known as Sentry, gained incredible powers after receiving an experimental serum, becoming one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. He’s virtually unbeatable thanks to his immense strength, speed, and ability to manipulate matter at a molecular level. He can even heal from devastating injuries, like having his face destroyed. Remarkably, even if Sentry is killed, he – and his darker side, the Void – can’t stay dead. They always eventually come back to life, and are also unaffected by aging. Sentry compares dying to simply taking a nap, but each time he returns, it’s uncertain whether he’ll be the hero Sentry or the destructive Void.
4) Hulk

Fueled by gamma radiation and a powerful, ancient entity, the Hulk is a nearly unstoppable engine of destruction and fury. He’s incredibly durable, able to survive even the most devastating attacks – and even if he’s severely injured or broken apart, he’ll heal and come back. Some versions of the Hulk have lived for centuries. If his body is completely destroyed, his spirit can travel to a hellish dimension and return through a special portal, ensuring his resurrection. Even Bruce Banner can use this portal, meaning even his human form is incredibly difficult to kill permanently.
3) Jean Grey

Jean Grey is famously known for her ability to always return to life, much like a phoenix. This is due to her connection with the powerful Phoenix Force, which allows her to revive herself no matter how severely injured or even destroyed she becomes. Over time, as her bond with the Phoenix Force has strengthened, Jean has evolved beyond her human form. She’s now a cosmic being, intrinsically linked to the universe itself, and doesn’t always need a physical body. Though her body can still be damaged and needs time to regenerate, Jean exists as a powerful, universal presence, beyond the limitations of life and death.
2) Franklin Richards

Franklin Richards is arguably the most powerful being in the Marvel Universe, the son of Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman. He has incredible powers that allow him to change reality itself, essentially giving him unlimited control over the multiverse. This makes him nearly invulnerable, and he’s even demonstrated the ability to bring beings back to life – including the Thing and Galactus. He’s also incredibly durable, able to survive attacks from even the powerful Celestials. It’s been revealed that Franklin will live for billions of years, witnessing the end of everything and eventually taking on Galactus’s role as a cosmic force of destruction in a new multiverse.
1) Mr. Immortal

It’s ironic that Mr. Immortal is arguably the hardest hero to kill, despite being physically weak. His ability, retroactive immortality, means he always regenerates from any injury – being torn apart, stabbed, blown up, or even completely disintegrated – and is fully healed within minutes. This power stems from him being the only known member of Homo Supreme, representing the next stage in human evolution. While being unkillable might seem great, Mr. Immortal still experiences pain and lacks other superpowers. In fact, his power is more of a curse; he’s destined to live forever, witnessing not just the destruction of Earth, but the end of time itself.
