Spider-Noir First Trailer Gives Stunning First Look at Nicolas Cage’s Hero (In Both Black & White and Color)

Superhero fans have a lot to look forward to this year! In addition to new movies like Supergirl, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Avengers: Doomsday, plus a re-release of Avengers: Endgame, the television side is also delivering. Spider-Noir is coming to Prime Video on May 25th, and the first trailer for the highly anticipated series is finally here. It gives us a first glimpse of Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly/The Spider, shown in both classic black and white and vibrant full color.

The new trailer, available below, introduces the dynamic between The Spider and Cat Hardy (Li Jun Li), who plays Black Cat in this universe. It’s a stylish and intriguing trailer that leans into a classic “noir” atmosphere, while also showcasing exciting action sequences, including fights against villains like Sandman and Megawatt. We also get a good look at Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane.

What Can We Expect From Spider-Noir?

Spider-Noir is shaping up to be one of the most original and captivating Spider-Man projects yet. The series, inspired by Nicolas Cage’s portrayal of Spider-Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, is his first leading role in a TV show. Joining Cage are Li Jun Li, Lamorne Morris, Jack Huston, Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, and Karen Rodriguez. The story follows Cage as Ben Reilly/The Spider, a world-weary private investigator with a secret identity as a superhero, set in 1930s New York. It’s a fresh spin on the superhero genre, particularly because Reilly is portrayed as cynical and disillusioned, with connections to the city’s criminal side.

This series is a bit of a risk, as there hasn’t been anything quite like Spider-Noir in live-action superhero films before. It arrives after other Spider-Man-related movies from Sony Pictures—like Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven the Hunter—failed to find an audience. If this series succeeds—and the initial trailer looks promising—it could pave the way for more creative and unique Spider-Man stories to be told.

Spider-Noir arrives on Prime Video May 25th.
