As an observer, I’ve been astounded by the captivating mysteries and exhilarating action of “Lord of Mysteries,” a Chinese anime that has set new standards, outshining many well-known productions. However, a significant chunk of its fan base has been left on the sidelines… until now. Exciting updates from Crunchyroll and Netflix have confirmed that Western viewers generally prefer dubbed versions over subtitled ones. Yet, “Lord of Mysteries” hasn’t made the transition to English dubs just yet. But here’s some good news for dubbed anime enthusiasts (or fans of dubbed donghua): they now have a reason to rejoice!
Lord of Mysteries is derived from the popular Chinese web novel by Yuan Ye, titled Lord of the Mysteries. This tale, reminiscent of the isekai genre, takes place in a Victorian-era steampunk universe where certain individuals acquire enigmatic supernatural powers, becoming elusive beings known as Beyonders. The narrative centers around Zhou Mingrui, a character who hails from our world, and his journey to understand the fragments of memories he possesses after being reborn in the deceased Klein Moretti’s body.
Lord of Mysteries Is Finally Getting a Dub
I can hardly contain my excitement as a devoted fan! The wait for an English dub of “Lord of Mysteries” is finally over, and it’s coming sooner than we dared to dream. Mark your calendars because the English dub premieres on July 25th, and
In addition to unveiling the plot for Lord of Mysteries, the voice actors for its English version have also been made public. Joshua Waters will lend his voice to Klein in the English dub. Accompanying him are Alexis Tipton as Audrey, Daniel Van Thomas as Alger, Ian Sinclair as Leonard, Macy Anne Johnson as Daly, Brian Mathis as Dunn, Megan Shipman as Melissa, R Bruce Elliot as Hermes, and Laurie Steele as Mrs. Smyrin. The English dub is being steered by Jonathan Rigg and produced by Samantha Herek. Blair Rowan has penned the script into English, with Nathanael Harrison taking charge of sound mixing, and Derric Benavides serving as the sound engineer.
Lord of Mysteries Is the Hidden Gem of Summer 2025
The anime adaptation of “Lord of Mysteries” debuted on June 28th. This year has already been filled with premieres like Season 2 of “Solo Leveling”, “Kaiju No. 8”, and “Dandadan”. Yet, despite upcoming releases such as “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” and “Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc”, “Lord of Mysteries” remains a strong candidate for boasting the finest animation of the year.
As a casual observer, I’ve noticed that donghua often gets overlooked by regular anime viewers. However, this Spring saw the release of “To Be Hero X,” which proved to be a massive hit among those who ventured out of their comfort zones and gave it a try. “Lord of Mysteries” is another stellar example of what donghua can bring to the table for anime enthusiasts. If you’ve been hesitant to dive in due to waiting for an English dub, get ready for one of the most thrilling paranormal murder mysteries this year has seen, featuring some of the best animation of 2025. In my opinion, “Lord of Mysteries” is undeniably THE hidden gem of 2025.
