Phil Robertson gave his family the OK to move on without him.
Ahead of the Duck Dynasty star’s death, he left his family with a special message.
In an interview with TV Insider on July 25th, Willie Robertson shared, “Phil had an incredibly strong belief. He once said, ‘Don’t shed tears at my funeral. I know where I’m headed.’ Such a life he led. We’ve heard similar sentiments from countless individuals, the ones whose lives he touched.
Phil, a beloved character from the original “Duck Dynasty” series who spent 11 seasons acting alongside his family, passed away in May at the age of 79, five months after announcing his struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. The family members who portrayed Phil on screen, including his wife Korie Robertson and children Rebecca (36), John Luke (29), Sadie (28), Bella (22), Will Jr (23), and Rowdy (22), were filming “Duck Dynasty: The Revival” at the time. They had received his blessing for the project before he passed away.
Phil would have approved of the actions we’re taking, as they embody his beliefs,” Willie explained. “Every aspect of this project mirrors our faith.
Even though Phil wasn’t on camera while they were shooting, Korie is happy that everyone got to witness one of his last moments with Willie.
Korie mentioned that the timing seemed a bit unusual. Their show was released the same week when Phil passed away. It was particularly meaningful for their family to have that small clip. They had filmed a brief moment where Phil gave Willie a thumbs up, which felt significant because it represented Phil’s chance to pass on his legacy to them.
Indeed, fans will get an insight into how the Robertson family paid tribute to Phil and continued his work following his passing.
In an exclusive conversation with TV Insider regarding the second season, Willie hinted at a special episode dedicated to Phil’s demise. This event will be portrayed as a whirlwind of chaos and absurdity, with some eccentric acts in tribute to him, as well as heartfelt moments. The series will kick off post this revelation, and viewers can expect to see these developments unfold in season two. Furthermore, the storyline will also focus on characters trying to take control of the company.

In the year 2020, Phil Robertson, famously known from Duck Dynasty, uncovered the fact that he had a daughter named Phyllis as a result of a past relationship. This startling discovery prompted him to rekindle ties with his long-lost child and even introduced her to duck hunting.
In her Instagram post that November, Phyllis expressed gratitude for finally being reunited with someone after so many years, attributing it to divine timing. She considers each passing day and fresh encounter as a precious gift.
Phyllis labeled this January 2021 picture as the finale of my first duck hunting season, which was fantastic. A year ago today, I began my life with my genuine father once paternity tests proved positive. Indeed, there have been highs and lows during this rollercoaster journey, but we believe that everything God orchestrates ultimately benefits those who love Him and are part of His plan – Romans 8:28. I’m incredibly grateful that both the day and this anniversary ended on a hopeful note.
In 2021, Phil and his wife, Kay “Miss Kay” Robertson, extended an invitation to Phyllis and her spouse, to join them in celebrating Easter with their family, which included Phil’s brother Si Robertson.
Phil taught Phyllis how to make mayhaw jelly in May 2021.
Phyllis celebrated her first Father’s Day with Phil in 2021.
She posted on Instagram, “Dad showed me his secret recipe for crawfish gratin today. It was a fantastic and unforgettable Father’s Day – my very first one celebrating with him.
Phyllis celebrated Christmas 2021 with Phil, Miss Kay, along with their grown-up children Al Robertson, Jase Robertson, Willie Robertson, and Jep Robertson.
The Robertson family went duck hunting in November 2022.
2022-23 duck hunting season has concluded, stretching from northeastern Louisiana to southeastern Kansas. In February 2022, Phyllis penned her thoughts: “It was truly a delight to share this experience with my father, family, and friends. We engaged in thoughtful conversations about faith, marveled at the beauty of nature, honed new abilities, supported a missions campaign, and spread the Good News. Not to mention, we bagged and piled up some waterfowl! All in all, it was an incredibly fruitful season.
On Easter this year, we’re overjoyed and sending warm wishes for a blessed celebration! We celebrate the miraculous resurrection, the hope we have in Jesus, and the future He promises. May His story become your story – finding light and hope in our living Savior. From our family to yours, Happy Easter!”
This version maintains the original message’s sentiment but is more conversational and easier to read.
