Enthusiasts who can’t wait to catch more of the gritty Spider-Man character before Nicolas Cage takes on the live-action role are in luck. The enigmatic Spider-Man, voiced by Nicholas Cage, made an appearance in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and quickly became a fan favorite. Sony recognized the buzz surrounding Spider-Man Noir and approved a Spider-Noir series for MGM+ and Prime Video, with Cage reprising his role as Spider-Man Noir in the upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. With all eyes on Spider-Man Noir, it’s no surprise that Marvel is releasing a new comic for fans to collect.
It has been disclosed that Erik Larsen, who was once the creator of Spider-Man, is working on a new series titled “Spider-Man Noir,” which will be available starting October 1st. Alongside him, Andrea Broccardo will handle the artwork. After Todd McFarlane, Larsen took over as the artist for the Amazing Spider-Man and won fans over with his dynamic art style. Later, he succeeded McFarlane as both writer and artist on Spider-Man before departing to help establish Image Comics, where he introduced the enduring comic book series “Savage Dragon,” which remains popular to this day.
In Larsen’s own words: “To put it straightforwardly, when Nick Lowe reached out to me regarding the creation of ‘Spider-Man Noir’, I must admit I was taken aback by the idea. However, Nick was adamant that I would be suitable for the task. It reminded me of learning that the girl you’ve had a crush on has a sibling.
Though I was familiar with the character from ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ alone, I soon found myself well-versed in his comic book tales. It resonated with me – much like Nick felt. An unquenchable thirst for fresh, captivating stories and characters took hold of my imagination and refused to let go.
Here I return, back to the world of Spider-Man, having been away for over three decades. This time though, I get a chance to begin anew, crafting his entire universe from scratch.
First Look at Spider-Noir Released
Amazon unveiled a sneak peek at the character Spider-Noir back in May during their annual upfront presentation in New York City. The glimpse showcases Nicolas Cage wearing Spider-Man Noir’s signature black trench coat, mask, and hat. His right hand is molded to launch a web from his wrist shooter.
