New Gears of War Game Reportedly Coming to PS5

It appears that the Gears of War series may soon be a part of both Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox franchises, reflecting the fast-paced evolution in the gaming industry. While some aspects of this shift have been contentious, it also brings about advantages for everyone involved. The walls between gaming platforms are becoming increasingly blurred as major franchises venture onto rival consoles. For a long time, to play Halo, Gears of War, or Forza, one needed an Xbox. However, Xbox eventually agreed to make their games available on PC and now, this agreement is expanding to include PlayStation as well.

Over the past few months, Xbox has been actively embracing multiplatform publishing. Series such as Call of Duty and Minecraft have continued to be available on other systems in recent times, but what left fans in awe was Xbox’s decision to release Forza Horizon 5 on PS5. This move took everyone by surprise. However, the astonishment only grew when Microsoft announced that they would bring a remaster of Gears of War to PS5 this August. This is one of Xbox’s flagship franchises and its arrival on PlayStation feels like a message that there are no more boundaries.

Gears of War: E-Day Could Be Coming to PS5

It appears that Xbox has primarily been concentrating on bringing older games (with the Gears remaster being an exception as it’s technically a new release) to PS5, but there may be more brand-new games in store for us in the coming times. Interestingly, gaming site MP1st discovered a game designer’s resume that has been working on the forthcoming Gears of War prequel titled Gears of War: E-Day. What caught their attention was an interesting detail – the game is being developed for PlayStation 5. This could potentially mean that it might launch on PS5 as soon as next year or not long after its release.

Speculation indicates that Fable could be available on PS5 from launch, implying that Gears of War: E-Day might also make an appearance. The upcoming remastered version of Gears of War is likely to establish a community of players on the PS5 before a fresh installment, potentially bolstering Xbox’s position. However, the company has faced challenges in recent times with job cuts, game cancellations, and studio shutdowns. It remains to be seen whether expanding to multiple platforms will help revitalize Xbox, but only time will tell.

It’s likely that Halo will make its way to PS5 at some point down the line. The specific details, such as the form it might take and when it could happen, are still uncertain. However, there have been rumors suggesting a possible remake of Halo: Combat Evolved for next year.
