There’s been a lot of buzz about Steven Spielberg’s upcoming summer 2026 movie. Now, a new trailer has been released, and in it, Spielberg himself explains the film’s themes, revealing it’s much more ambitious than his classic, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Imagine discovering we aren’t the only ones in the universe – if someone actually showed you undeniable proof, would it scare you? This summer, the answer will be revealed to everyone on Earth.
I’m so excited about this new movie! The cast is amazing – Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo are all starring. It’s based on a story by Spielberg himself, and the script is written by David Koepp, who’s worked with Spielberg many times before on huge hits like Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – those films made over $3 billion worldwide! He also wrote the script for the upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth. What’s really cool is this marks the 30th time Spielberg has worked with John Williams – they first teamed up back in 1974 for The Sugarland Express!
