Every Spider-Man Villain in Spider-Noir, Ranked

Okay, so a quick heads-up: I’m about to talk about spoilers for Spider-Noir! But honestly, one of the things that always makes a superhero story great is a strong set of villains, right? Think about Batman and his classic enemies, or how the Marvel Cinematic Universe keeps raising the stakes with bigger and badder threats. Spider-Man, in my opinion, has the best villains of anyone. So, it’s fantastic that Spider-Noir delivers on that front with a really interesting group of bad guys for Nicolas Cage’s version of Ben Reilly to fight. What I really appreciate is that they didn’t just throw in the usual suspects. The show’s cool noir style and 1930s setting let them get creative with the villains, and they really pulled it off!

The story takes place in a time before superheroes were common, with Harlem’s Spider being a rare and celebrated figure. When Spider retires after the death of his love, Ruby, things are quiet for a while. However, he soon finds himself caught up in a series of bizarre events, and villains start appearing frequently, all linked to the gangster Silvermane. The question becomes: who is the most compelling villain in Spider-Noir? There are simply too many good choices!

7) Addison

Addison is a tragic figure whose role in the Spider-Noir storyline is marked by his lack of presence. Introduced early as one of the first mutated veterans, he isn’t based on a specific Marvel villain, though several fire-powered characters could have inspired him. While powerful and a threat to Ben Reilly and Donegal (Cameron Britton), Addison is ultimately defined by his failures. He doesn’t succeed in killing Silvermane, which sets the stage for his revenge quest, and he doesn’t leave a lasting impression on the detectives before Donegal fatally shoots him.

6) Dr Faber

Dr. Alethea Faber (Amy Aquino) is a more recent addition to the show’s villains, and she’s a complicated character. Though motivated by a desire to save her son from a life-threatening condition, she has a dark side that makes her unforgivable. Driven by this need, she takes advantage of veterans who were subjected to German experiments, ultimately killing and preserving almost all of them except for Silverman’s team. She also leads the experiments on Ben Reilly, extracting his DNA and subjecting him to terrifying visions – a particularly disturbing episode for anyone afraid of spiders. While her intentions stem from a good place, they are deeply twisted, and she’s willing to kill Reilly to cover up her actions, solidifying her status as a true villain.

5) MegaWatt

When Andrew Lewis Caldwell was cast as the relatively unknown villain MegaWatt (whose real name is Dirk Leyden), many fans initially thought Sony hadn’t been able to secure a more popular electric-powered villain like Electro or Shocker. However, Leyden proved to be a clever choice. His character’s history as a struggling actor adds a unique touch, as he peppers his dialogue with lines from famous plays and enjoys dramatic displays. This makes his eventual betrayal of Silvermane – motivated by a wounded pride – feel natural. While his backstory has some appealing elements, MegaWatt is also quite irritating and overly dramatic, often without reason. This doesn’t make him a bad villain, just an intentionally annoying one.

4) Man-Spider

Spider-Noir’s version of Man-Spider is a terrifying, briefly seen creature whose only role is in the backstory of Ben Reilly’s powers. He’s never named or given a story beyond being one of the prisoners Reilly saves from a German camp. This Man-Spider serves as a grim warning of the fate awaiting the other survivors if their mutations progress too far. Despite his limited screen time, his nightmarish design and unsettling appearance make a lasting impression – a true example of body horror.

3) Tombstone

Abraham Popoola’s version of Lonnie Lincoln in Marvel’s Tombstone is a departure from what fans might anticipate. Visually transformed, resembling a lobster or crab, Lincoln possesses incredibly durable skin and immense strength, serving as Silvermane’s enforcer. Unlike some other characters, Lincoln isn’t corrupted by his powers; he has a strong moral compass but finds himself compelled to work for a mobster. Once freed from the mutation that threatened his life and stripped of his abilities, he promptly leaves the criminal world, sharing his heartfelt wish to take his mother to Niagara Falls. Popoola’s powerful physique and captivating performance make Lonnie a truly memorable character.

2) Sandman

Jack Huston’s portrayal of Flint Marko, similar to Lonnie Lincoln’s, presents a villain with surprising depth – a trait also found in Thomas Haden Church’s version in Spider-Man 3. This Marko is still a dedicated criminal, intensely loyal to Silvermane, even if it means damaging his relationship with Cat Hardy. Huston imbues the character with a powerful presence, reminiscent of Orson Welles, skillfully blending charisma with a menacing edge.

1) Silvermane

If you’re disappointed that Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin is temporarily gone after the end of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, the villain from Spider-Noir is a great substitute. Brendan Gleeson plays Silvermane, an Irish bootlegger inspired by an Italian mobster, who controls Harlem. Gleeson’s charming Irish accent makes Silvermane seem friendly at first, but it quickly becomes clear he’s a ruthless man who’s earned his power through violence.

This villain is intimidating, immensely strong, and truly awful – he’s clearly the most powerful figure in Spider-Noir’s world. Even Ben Reilly will bend the rules to please him and won’t dare refuse his requests. It’s a shame we won’t see more of him, but he was so reprehensible that his death at the hands of Cat Hardy felt necessary, particularly after he cruelly used her to try and determine if Reilly was the real Spider-Man. He was a fantastic villain, and it’s good to see him gone.
