Coronation Street airs tragic scenes for Daniel Osbourne and Megan Walsh altercation in early ITVX release

Daniel Osbourne’s return to work hasn’t gone well, following the online harassment he’s been experiencing on Coronation Street.

Earlier this year, Sam Blakeman noticed and worried about the close connection between his classmate, Will Driscoll, and their teacher, Megan Walsh.

She was dating Daniel at the time and dismissed Will’s romantic feelings as a simple, youthful infatuation. She was also pregnant and explained to the police that she hadn’t told Daniel about the baby because she was unsure if he was prepared to have another child.

Police suspected Will might be the father and recommended a DNA test, but she wouldn’t agree to it.

This cemented to Daniel that she was lying and he ended their romance.

Things have been difficult for him since then, and he got suspended from Weatherfield High after angrily confronting Hope Dobbs (Isabella Flanagan) when she pried into his personal life regarding Megan. After that, he went into hiding at his apartment, falsely telling his family he was on vacation in the Lake District.

While working undercover, Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) learned the truth and unexpectedly became friends with the person she was investigating. He had been making progress in his recovery, but then became the target of a hateful online campaign that she had secretly organized.

He was relieved when the online posts from the account ‘Truthteller’ abruptly ended. But shortly after, someone created a fake account pretending to be him, and then he was attacked on the street by a group of teenagers wielding ketchup bottles.

Today’s show featured his return to teaching, although things started off a bit rocky when he accidentally spilled coffee on himself. Meanwhile, Jodie gave Daniel a gift from Bertie – a mug proclaiming him ‘World’s Best Teacher,’ which he really appreciated.

As Jake Windass and Lily Platt walked to school, they started asking each other what they knew about Megan. Lily then shared several posts from a user named Truthteller2.

Lily intentionally bumped into him, causing the mug to fall and break, which made him burst into tears. He then cried out, asking everyone nearby to step back.

A wave of compassion washed over Hope, and she immediately told everyone to stop teasing him. She then knelt down beside him and gently took his hands. Daniel was deeply moved by her kindness, but also incredibly embarrassed, so he quickly stood up and urged everyone to go to class.

That evening, after being turned away from the Rovers pub, Daniel went to the park to feel sorry for himself. Megan happened to walk by, and he suddenly grabbed her face, angrily blaming her for ruining his life.

Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) saw what was happening and pulled the man away, telling him he was only escalating the situation.

Will Daniel be able to get the help he needs?

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 or can be streamed from 7am on ITVX.
