Jurassic Park Meets Primeval in New Trailer for Anne Hathaway & Ewan McGregor’s Dinosaur Movie

Dinosaurs remain incredibly popular, and people are still fascinated by the Jurassic Park series. Although a new movie hasn’t been announced yet, J.J. Abrams has a great idea for what could come next.

Warner Bros. has released the official trailer for their new movie, The End of Oak Street. It’s a thrilling story reminiscent of Jurassic Park, but this time the dinosaur action takes place in a quiet, suburban neighborhood. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on August 14th.

What Happens in The End of Oak Street?

When a strange cosmic event suddenly moves Oak Street and its residents to a completely unfamiliar location, the Platt family realizes they must rely on each other to survive in this new and unrecognizable world.

David Robert Mitchell, known for films like It Follows and Under the Silver Lake, wrote and directed the new movie. J.J. Abrams produced it, with Hannah Minghella, Jon Cohen, David Robert Mitchell, Matt Jackson, and Tommy Harper also serving as producers. Chris Bender, Jake Weiner, Joanne Lee, and Leeann Stonebreaker were executive producers. Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor lead the cast of The End of Oak Street, with Maisy Stella and Christian Convery also starring.

The story begins with a strange, blinding light that plunges a neighborhood into darkness, cutting off all power. When investigators arrive, they discover they’ve been transported back to the prehistoric era, where dinosaurs now roam the streets and threaten the population.

The video features dinosaurs that viewers have been complimenting online. Though a T-Rex isn’t shown, the CGI work on the dinosaurs has been widely praised. The dinosaurs are depicted as fierce and dangerous – in one scene, a dinosaur even attacks and eats a neighbor while the family tries to get everyone back inside.

Dinosaurs are still popular in movies! The Jurassic Park series returned in 2025 with a fresh start called Jurassic World Rebirth, continuing the story after the Jurassic World trilogy starring Chris Pratt and Dallas Bryce Howard. This new film features a completely new cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Ed Skrein.

The latest installment, written by the original Jurassic Park author, David Koepp, received a mixed response from critics. It currently has a 50% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 403 reviews, though audiences gave it a higher score of 70%. Despite the mixed critical reception, the film was a major financial success, earning $869.1 million worldwide on a production budget estimated between $180 and $225 million.

As a huge sci-fi fan, I was really excited to hear they’re making a sequel to Primitive War – it’s called Primitive War 2: Animus Infernal! And it’s been a great year for revisiting classic worlds; Steven Spielberg just gave us another look at dinosaurs with his new film, which dropped on Netflix earlier this year.

The End of Oak Street premieres in theaters on Aug. 14.
