He and his adorable pit bull will be returning to Fortnite very soon—in just a few days!
A recent tweet from Discussing Film revealed the first look at John Wick’s new appearance in Fortnite. Even better, his famous pit bull will be joining him, and both characters will be available when the Chapter 7 Season 3 Battle Pass launches on June 5th.
John Wick’s Fortnite Career — Explained
John Wick first appeared in Fortnite in 2019, becoming the newest popular character added to the game. Like many other licensed characters, he gave Fortnite players a way to enjoy well-known franchises and personalize their gameplay.
The upcoming John Wick skin in Fortnite will have a unique “Pen and Ink” style, taking inspiration from the character’s look in comic books rather than the movies. Similarly, John’s dog won’t be a major fighting companion in Fortnite – reflecting the fact that, in the John Wick films, the dog isn’t trained for combat and plays a less active role.
What’s Next for the John Wick Franchise?
Ever since From the World of John Wick: Ballerina came out last year, fans have been wanting to know what’s next for the John Wick universe. Several projects are in development, including three separate films that will each delve into different aspects of this world.
In addition to a fifth John Wick movie, a new animated series will reveal details about John Wick’s life before the events of the first film. Crucially, this series will delve into the legendary “Impossible Task” – the mission that originally earned him his freedom from the High Table.
The filmmakers chose animation for the prequel because they didn’t want to revisit the past with the original actors. Animation avoids the need for de-aging, explaining complicated details, or creating extensive backstories. Anime is accepted as its own art form, embracing a unique style and energy – it simply is what it is.
Audiences are excited about a new John Wick spin-off focusing on Donnie Yen‘s character, Caine, a skilled blind assassin. Donnie Yen will not only star in the film, but also direct it. Interestingly, this spin-off won’t actually feature John Wick himself. As director Chad Stahelski explained, it’s a tribute to classic kung fu films – think the style of Chow Yun-fat’s movies directed by John Woo and Wong Kar-wai. He believes this will make it easier for audiences to understand, as it’s a different sub-genre within the action world that they already enjoy. If the first John Wick film drew inspiration from actors like Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin, this one is inspired by the greats of Hong Kong action cinema.
John Wick and his dog arrive in Fortnite as part of the Season 7 Chapter 3 Battle Pass on June 5.
