Love Island is back with a new season, and it kicked off with plenty of drama tonight!
At 9pm, viewers across the UK first met the twelve contestants of the show as they began getting to know each other and pairing up.
Okay, so things got interesting right away! Instead of the usual daytime recoupling, it happened at night. We all watched as the Islanders played a fun drinking game with Maya Jama, and then, while things were getting a little loose, they finally revealed who they were choosing to couple up with. It was a really unexpected way to kick things off!
Love Island quickly surprised viewers by introducing two new contestants, George and Yasmin.
When the new Islanders arrived at the villa, Jama explained they had a crucial task that could put two existing Islanders in danger.

The two contestants were informed that within 24 hours, they’d have to eliminate one male and one female player. They could choose anyone for any reason. Would they remove their strongest competitor, or someone they simply don’t like?
Only time will tell, and they must keep it to themselves.
Okay, so I’m already rooting for George! He’s a 28-year-old footballer from Winchester, and honestly, he seems like a really chill guy. He told ITV he’s not going to try and force a connection with anyone if it’s not mutual. Basically, he’s saying if someone feels the same way he does, then game on! He just wants to avoid drama, which is great.
Yasmin, a 23-year-old recruitment consultant from Kent, is entering the villa hoping to find romance, but she’s also prepared for some drama along the way.
I’ve had a lot of relationships, so now I’m ready to really focus on getting to know someone,” she explained. “I’m worried that if I became interested in a guy that one of my close friends in the villa also liked, it would create an awkward situation.
Look, if I’m crushing on the guy she’s with, I’ve gotta at least try and talk to them, right? It’s a bit awkward since it’s a small place – reminds me of growing up in my hometown where everybody knew everybody else’s business!
