JoJo Siwa Details Suffering From “Gnarly” Eye Infection and Concussion

JoJo Siwa is about to come back like a boomerang.

This is welcome news, especially since the former Dance Moms star is recovering from both a golf cart accident and a sudden eye infection.

JoJo shared on Instagram on June 1st that she had a concussion and an injured eye, joking, ‘Things aren’t going too well!’ She added, ‘I’m a mess.’

The 23-year-old explained that she suffered a concussion after her golf cart spun out of control, causing her to fall and injure her neck and head.

So, a couple of days after everything happened, I ended up with a really bad eye infection. The doctors say it’s probably just a coincidence, but it’s pretty awful, to be honest!

Despite having a positive attitude, the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant admitted the past week had been difficult. This came shortly after she celebrated her one-year anniversary with her former co-star, Chris Hughes.

JoJo shared in a post that it’s been a tough week, but they’re recovering well from a concussion with some much-needed rest. They’re not fully recovered yet, but making good progress. Unfortunately, their eye injury is healing more slowly than anticipated.

Despite having a great medical team supporting her recovery, JoJo is choosing to return to tour rehearsals instead of fully resting.

JoJo acknowledged it’s still soon to be fully back at work, and she needs to prioritize her recovery. However, she said she’s embracing the classic Hollywood motto: the show must go on, no matter what.

The singer, known for her song “Karma,” also joked that if people saw her wearing sunglasses, it wasn’t because she was being overly dramatic – she was simply giving her eyes a break.

JoJo had a difficult year health-wise, experiencing an ovarian cyst emergency in December. She had to be hospitalized when a cyst burst, but she’s thankful for the support of her fans, which helped her recover quickly.

She shared on Instagram that the support she received helped her heal, describing it as a complete and positive experience.

I was so worried when I heard that my favorite podcaster, from the BFFs show, had to have emergency surgery back in May 2026! Apparently, doctors found a really large cyst on her ovary that had twisted things around inside and was causing her to bleed internally. It was a scary time, but thankfully she’s recovering.

After her surgery, Brianna explained in a TikTok video that doctors discovered about half a liter of blood in her pelvic area. She had five cuts on her stomach, and they used a camera inserted through her belly button to locate the source of the bleeding.

Former Total Bellas star reported that one of her breast implants moved after being hit in the chest by WWE wrestler Piper Niven during a match in July 2025.

She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, saying they would get the issue resolved eventually. She explained to the doctor that as soon as she retired from her current job, she’d return to address the problem and ensure everything looked its best, because she planned to actively use the items in the future and they couldn’t appear in their current condition.

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in 12 Years a Slave, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids – non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus – in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.

She didn’t reveal her diagnosis until 2025, sharing on Instagram that she’d been privately struggling with it for over ten years.

She explained that growing up, she was taught to expect periods to be painful, and to accept that pain as a normal part of being female. This often leaves people feeling like they’re dealing with a difficult experience on their own.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she had been wearing pants that were too tight, causing a gap in her abdominal muscles.

Someone messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter) asking why she hadn’t tweeted recently. Suki jokingly replied, explaining she’d been secretly dealing with a hernia caused by wearing very tight pants six months prior and hadn’t felt comfortable sharing it.

The former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery after experiencing a near-ruptured appendix.

Brian shared in an Instagram video that he recently experienced stomach pain which led him to the emergency room. He explained that his appendix had a hole in it – it hadn’t fully burst, but was very close to doing so.

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

During a soccer game against Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle, a midfielder for Racing Louisville collapsed after only a few minutes of play.

According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player was seen slowly sitting down on the field with a teammate supporting her, just before collapsing. Trainers were immediately called to assess her condition.

Savannah received immediate medical attention on the field and was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests, according to a statement from the National Women’s Soccer League. They reported that she is currently in stable condition and is alert.

I was so shocked to hear that Adam Devine is still dealing with the effects of being hit by a cement truck when he was just 11! It’s incredible how something that happened so long ago can continue to impact someone, and I really feel for him.

“It’s been incredibly difficult,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I’ve been experiencing spasms all over my body, and doctors recently told me I was facing a life-threatening situation—within the last year, actually.”

He mentioned that his pain is intermittent, explaining that his body has some minor imperfections and isn’t quite functioning as it should.

A former contestant on The Bachelor had to be hospitalized after experiencing severe back pain. He described having to crawl to get help, and said the pain worsened during a recent road trip with a friend.

He described a lingering tingling sensation in his knees and toes during a March 2025 episode of his podcast, Trading Secrets. He explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a squat or stand on one leg without falling, comparing the feeling to having a stroke.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Gina Kirschenheiter from The Real Housewives of Orange County revealed that her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025, but he is recovering well.

In March 2025, the actor from 30 Rock experienced a medical issue at a New York Knicks game and had to be taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.

The comedian later posted on social media to explain he’d actually gotten food poisoning and was starting to feel better.

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday outing with her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a trip to go clay pigeon shooting when the incident occurred.

According to her Instagram post, she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a weapon unsafely. She said Brendan Rooney quickly helped her and took her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye, coming within an inch of hitting it directly.

Okay, so here’s what’s been going on with my eye. Apparently, a tiny piece of something got stuck behind it, and my doctors feel it’s too dangerous to try and remove it with surgery right now. The good news is, I can still see perfectly fine, and they’re going to keep a close watch on things just to be safe.

As someone who’s spent years observing what truly matters, let me tell you, this recent experience has really reinforced something I’ve always believed. I’m incredibly grateful to be here, to be alive. More than anything, my daughters, my husband, my family and friends mean the world to me. Going through something that made me truly confront my mortality… it makes you realize how quickly things can change. My biggest takeaway? Don’t wait. Cherish the people you love and hug them often. Seriously, every chance you get. Life is precious and can shift in an instant.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, surprisingly, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffy” during interviews, people online began commenting, and doctors even chimed in, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome – a condition often caused by high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Amy to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She wouldn’t have known about the condition without the online attention. Fortunately, doctors determined her case of Cushing syndrome would resolve on its own, which Amy described as “the greatest news imaginable.” She’s now relieved to be healthy and is thankful for the unexpected help she received online.

During a game in December 2024, an AHL player was accidentally cut in the face by another player’s skate and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald told ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and no parent should ever have to go through that.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, struggling to speak and noticing her face drooping. Although her symptoms briefly subsided, she went to the hospital for evaluation. Doctors discovered she had a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), sometimes called a mini-stroke. Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to travel to her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

It was a really tough year for both Justin and Hailey. Not long after Hailey’s health scare, Justin revealed he was battling Ramsay Hunt syndrome. He shared a video explaining how it had caused paralysis on one side of his face – he couldn’t blink, smile, or even move his nostril on that side. He even said it was becoming harder for him to eat. It was so scary to watch him go through that, but thankfully, after a while, the paralysis started to go away. Hailey appeared on Good Morning America and said he was doing really well and feeling much better. It was a random and frightening experience, but we were all so relieved to hear he was going to be okay. I’m just so grateful he’s doing fine now.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the serious health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he suffered from a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. Before he could even take an aspirin, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, became worried and took him to the hospital. There, they discovered he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.

After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed deep gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”

The reality TV star shared that she temporarily stopped breathing while running in the first challenge of the NBC competition show.

Honestly, listening to her talk about it still gives me chills. She was on this show, Fit for TV, and she said she doesn’t remember much at all. Just the sound of a helicopter, and this feeling like she was just…floating. Then, unbelievably, she said her grandpa appeared. After that, everything went black, but then…light. She was so certain, she knew she had died right then and there. It’s just…wow. Every time I hear her tell it, it’s like reliving it with her.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially starts to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the series, she experienced a severe headache while at the gym, which quickly escalated. She described collapsing and being violently ill, realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, making it difficult to speak coherently.

Though she left the hospital after a month, a 2013 scan showed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure initially failed, leading to a massive bleed and a precarious situation. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Fortunately, Emilia Clarke is now fully recovered and says she is “at a hundred per cent.”

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared how thankful she is for her family’s support after experiencing a stroke in January 2024. She immediately reached out to them, sending a text and photo, and they quickly came to her aid, she told TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi in December 2024. While she could have gone home after the stroke, existing health issues – including lupus and kidney problems – required a longer hospital stay. Cori is now recovering well, saying she’s “doing great” and has been working to regain some motor skills. She’s grateful for her family’s unwavering support during a challenging time.

Shailene Woodley struggled with serious health issues throughout her 20s. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, extreme fatigue, and digestive problems. She saw many doctors, but received conflicting diagnoses.

Shailene, who has kept the specifics of her condition private, decided to take a holistic approach, combining traditional medical care with alternative therapies and herbalism. This search for answers took a full decade.

She explained that the physical discomfort led to anxiety around food and eventually issues with body image and self-identity. However, after years of focusing on both her physical and mental wellbeing, Shailene is now healthy and feeling good. She’s grateful to be in a much better place.
