Demon Slayer Fans Are Preparing for a Grim Anniversary

The anime film Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has become the highest-grossing anime movie ever, surpassing Mugen Train with massive worldwide earnings. With two more films planned from Ufotable, the Demon Slayer series appears to be its own biggest competitor. However, despite the success of the final trilogy, fans are also facing a frustrating wait for Infinity Castle to become available for home viewing, and there’s currently no news on when that will happen.

It’s been almost eleven months since Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle premiered in Japanese theaters, continuing the story of the fight against Muzan. Despite the film’s release and the popularity of the Demon Slayer anime – which has been available on platforms like Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix – fans are still waiting to find out when Infinity Castle will be available to stream. As of today, there’s no confirmed release date for streaming, and this is a common frustration among anime enthusiasts.

What Lies in Wait For Demon Slayer

It’s unusual, but Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is currently scheduled to be available on Blu-Ray and DVD before it’s available to stream. This plan could change, however. The physical release will be available in Japan on July 29th, but a release date for North America hasn’t been announced yet. With so many streaming services already offering Demon Slayer, it’s likely that different platforms are competing to acquire the rights to stream the film in Western countries, both for this movie and future releases.

As we discussed before, two more Demon Slayer movies are planned to finish the story of the Hashira, but details are still unknown. We don’t yet have titles for the last two films in the trilogy, and while some people are predicting releases in 2027 and 2029, those dates aren’t confirmed. Considering the original manga, each movie would likely be about as long as Infinity Castle to properly wrap up the fight against Muzan and conclude the Demon Slayer Corps’ journey.

Although Demon Slayer has been incredibly popular, its creator, Koyoharu Gotouge, hasn’t suggested a return to the world of the Hashira or to making manga at all. The series finished in 2020, so it’s been over six years since fans said goodbye to Tanjiro and the others. Even without a sequel or spin-off, Demon Slayer has cemented its place as one of the most successful shonen series ever.
