Silent Hill: Townfall Rated by ESRB as State of Play Looms

PlayStation’s State of Play presentation is happening later today at 2 PM PST, and excitement is building about what will be revealed. Adding to the speculation, the ESRB has now rated Silent Hill: Townfall, a game from Screen Burn Interactive.

So, the game’s rated M for Mature – expect violence, blood, and some strong language. From what I’ve seen, we’ll be exploring St. Amelia, a foggy Scottish island, which sounds awesome! It looks like we’ll be doing a lot of puzzle-solving and trying to avoid creepy monsters, but thankfully, we’ll also have weapons – guns and melee weapons like axes – to fight back when we need to.

While most of the violence isn’t overly graphic – it includes things like stabbing and some blood – there’s one scene where a man is eaten by a monster. Be aware that this happens.

This rating is particularly interesting right before the State of Play event, as it strongly suggests a release date announcement could be coming soon. We already know Silent Hill: Townfall is planned for 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC, making this a natural time to reveal when we can actually play it. The big question now is when in 2026 it will launch, considering how many game releases are already scheduled for the months leading up to November.

We’re really excited to get started, particularly because this is the first game in the series played from a first-person perspective, and it’s one of the largest Annapurna Interactive has ever released. You can find details about the combat system here.
