Okay, so if you, like me, grew up loving Toy Story and remember all the games based on it, you’re gonna be happy to hear this…
Digital Eclipse, specialists in classic games, is bringing back several beloved titles originally based on Disney and Pixar films. Two of these revamped games are scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 later this year.
Let’s start with Toy Story: Retro Roundup!, a collection of classic games featuring:
- Toy Story (SNES/Genesis)
- Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue (PS1)
- Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (PS1)
- Toy Story Racer (PS1)
- A Bug’s Life (PS1)
Bit of a rogue addition, that last one, but I’ll happily take it.
The second project is a complete remake of Toy Story 3, originally released for the PlayStation 3 in 2010.
This game stood out because it offered both a delightful story mode with classic platforming and a creative ‘Toy Box’ mode. In Toy Box, players could roam around and completely personalize a town with a Wild West theme.
Both games will be released digitally on October 15, 2026, with a physical copy available on the same day. The physical edition, which is exclusive to PlayStation 5, bundles both Retro Roundup and Toy Story 3 together. The digital versions will be playable on both PS4 and PS5.
Now that Toy Story 5 is coming out soon, it’s a great time to bring back the older Toy Story video games for both longtime fans and new players.
You can already play a few of these classic games separately on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 – Toy Story 2 and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command are available now. The version of Toy Story 3 that’s coming as part of this remaster is different from the one originally released on the PSP.
