Millie Bobby Brown Reveals Part of Motherhood No One Prepared Her For

The experience of becoming a parent is often accompanied by a boundless and enduring love – it’s a story that’s been told for generations.

Millie Bobby Brown truly grasped the situation only after she and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, adopted their first child, a baby girl, in 2025.

In fact, she said no one could have prepared her for “the love” she’d feel for her daughter. 

In a recent conversation with UNICEF, the Stranger Things star explained how difficult it is to put into words the love they feel for their children. They said, ‘People say they love their children, but I just don’t understand how that much can happen in your heart. It’s an overwhelming and incomprehensible feeling.’

Oh my gosh, you guys, I’m SO happy for them! Little [baby’s name, if known, otherwise ‘their little one’] is here, and while being new parents is probably crazy, they’re lucky to have such amazing moms helping out! Kelly Brown and Dorothea Hurley are total rockstars, I just know they’re spoiling that baby rotten (in the best way possible, of course!).

Okay, so like, whenever I see something weird my fave celebs do – you know, just normal stuff but it seems…off – I immediately freak out a little. I have to know if it’s normal! My mum is seriously my go-to person for everything. I call her immediately, like, ‘Mum, did I used to do this? Or my brother or sister?’ And she always just laughs and says, ‘Honey, that’s totally normal, you all did that all the time!’ It’s such a relief, honestly. She just gets it.

The Enola Holmes star shared how grateful she is for the support she receives. When she needs to talk, she often turns to her mother-in-law, who provides the same kind of comforting reassurance. It’s really wonderful to have someone who can offer that support.

 

Millie did, however, share some new insight into her favorite way to spend time with her baby girl.

Having those female friends to talk things over with will be particularly helpful as her daughter grows up.

Millie thought about how much responsibility came with raising a daughter. She focuses on teaching her the importance of women supporting each other and achieving their goals, creating a realistic but ambitious world where her daughter knows she deserves the best.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following Millie and Jake – they got married earlier this year, in 2024 – and it’s been lovely to see them become parents! They’re being very private about their little one, which is totally understandable. They’ve shared a few sweet glimpses of family life, but are carefully protecting their daughter’s privacy by mostly hiding her face. We’ve only gotten a hint of her name – it’s thought to be Ruth, which is just adorable!

Millie did, however, share some new insight into her favorite way to spend time with her baby girl.

She told UNICEF that food is how they show affection for each other. “We both just really love to eat!” she explained. “We often share meals, trying each other’s food and enjoying the simple pleasure of eating together.”

However, don’t anticipate them sharing much about what their daughter is thinking or feeling in the near future.

Millie explained in the December issue of British Vogue that she wants to protect her daughter and her life story until the child is old enough to tell it herself.

We would be supportive if our daughter ever decides to share her personality with the public, like I did when I was younger. However, she’s still very young, and it’s our responsibility as parents to shield her from that kind of attention right now.

I started noticing people talking about Jake and her possibly being a couple right when he shared that picture. It was captioned ‘bff <3’, which definitely got everyone wondering if it was more than just a friendship!

I was so excited to see Millie and Jake finally step out together! They made their official debut as a couple at the 2022 BAFTA Film Awards in London, and it was a really special moment for fans like me.

Millie and Jake were twinning at the premiere of Stranger Things season four in New York City.

Millie posted photos of her and her partner to ring in the New Year, expressing how much she cherished the past year together.

One snapshot showed a photo booth strip of the loved-up couple.

Millie expressed her gratitude for the important people and animals in her life, including her friends, family, her donkey Bernard, her dogs, her puppy’s teeth, and her life partner.

Jake celebrated Millie’s 19th birthday on February 19, 2023, with a heartfelt message, calling her the girl of his dreams and wishing her a happy birthday.

I was so thrilled to see Millie announce her engagement on Instagram! She shared the news with a quote from Taylor Swift’s “Lover,” which is just perfect for them. They followed it up with a wonderful engagement party a few weeks later, surrounded by all their loved ones. It was such a happy occasion!

Millie and Jake spent the day at Six Flags Over Georgia with Millie’s eleven-year-old sister, Ava Brown, and their friends.

Jake celebrated his fiancé’s 20th birthday with a sweet message, saying, “Happy birthday, my love! I love you tons. Here’s to an amazing year ahead.”

After dating for three years, the couple got married in a private ceremony, according to several news sources.

Over a year after their nuptials, Millie and Jake shared they had a new arrival.

The couple announced on Instagram on August 21st that they welcomed a baby girl into their family through adoption. They shared their excitement about starting this new chapter of parenthood and asked for privacy as they adjust to life as a family.

They concluded, “And then there were 3.”
