Val Kilmer Slammed as “Worst Human Being” by Conspiracy Director

For a former colleague of Val Kilmer, the gloves are off.

A year after actor Kelly McGillis, known for her role in Top Gun, passed away at 65, director Adam Marcus, who collaborated with her on the film Conspiracy, publicly shared a very critical account of their working relationship.

Marcus shared a memory on Facebook, recalling a time he directed an actor who is known for playing Iceman and Doc Holliday. He posted about it on June 1st, using the hashtag #MicrointellectMonday.

Adam shared a photo of the two of them working on the set of the 2008 thriller and simply wrote, “Yep, that actually happened.”

The director, who previously worked on films like Texas Chainsaw and Secret Santa, claimed the Tombstone actor was difficult to work with on set during filming in the late 2000s.

Marcus didn’t hold back, saying, “Forget the idea that you shouldn’t speak badly about people who have died. This person was physically violent – he actually kicked me in the groin on set because I didn’t want to look at his shoes. He also sexually harassed the women in the cast and was constantly verbally abusive.”

Marcus also claimed that Val Kilmer appeared to be using drugs every day during filming and was consistently at least three hours late to set.

Marcus shared that on the first day of filming, the actor was severely intoxicated and required an ambulance and an IV before they could even begin shooting. Despite being paid $1.5 million, the actor’s behavior was completely unprofessional, and this was just a small example of a much larger pattern. Marcus believes that if someone else had acted this way on set, they would have faced immediate consequences, and he described the actor as the worst person he’s ever met.

TopMob News contacted representatives for Kilmer’s estate after Marcus made his statements, but they haven’t received a response yet.

Although Marcus didn’t remember working with Kilmer fondly, many other actors who collaborated with him spoke highly of his career following his passing in April 2025.

Tom Cruise shared his deep admiration for Val Kilmer, recalling his gratitude and honor that Kilmer joined the original Top Gun and reprised his role in Top Gun: Maverick. Cruise made these remarks during a tribute to Kilmer at CinemaCon 2025, shortly after Kilmer’s passing.

Cruise asked for a moment of silence to remember Kilmer, saying, “He was passionate about movies and contributed so much to everyone here.”

Cruise explained he saw Kilmer as a modern-day Irving Thalberg, recognizing him as a key innovator in the history of film.

Cruise praised the individual, saying they overcame challenges to deliver incredible experiences to people worldwide. He called them a timeless artist and a contemporary equivalent of Irving Thalberg, a legendary film producer.
