I was definitely surprised during Sony’s recent State of Play to learn that a prequel to Dave the Diver is in development, but that’s exactly what they announced.
Bancho the Chef tells the story of how Bancho develops into the amazing cook he is known as in the first game.
Instead of the pixel art style of Dave the Diver, Bancho the Chef uses a simpler, low-poly 3D look. The game follows Bancho as he travels throughout Asia, learning to become a better chef.
The game appears to offer a lot of different activities, including cooking minigames. According to the PlayStation Blog, you’ll also be able to do things like wash dishes, fish, and play with cats.
I’m excited about this! Bancho was a fantastic character in the original game, and I’m thrilled we’re getting a separate adventure to explore his backstory. We don’t know when it will be released yet, but I hope it’s not too long from now.
