Ken Barlow, played by William Roache, is incredibly frustrated with his son Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) on Coronation Street.
Daniel had an emotional breakdown at work earlier this week after Lily Platt and Jake Windass questioned him about his past relationship with Megan Walsh, who was later revealed to be a child abuser.
Hope Dobbs stepped in to help, and it was obvious he wasn’t well enough to go back to school.
The bullying Jodie Ramsey (played by Olivia Frances Brown) subjected him to was only part of a larger problem. She had been anonymously posting hateful messages about him online, using the name ‘Truthteller,’ hoping he would continue to rely on her and let her stay in his apartment indefinitely.
She was overwhelmed with guilt. Shortly after she quit, a fake account called Truthteller2 appeared. Things escalated when Daniel was even attacked on the street by teenagers wielding ketchup bottles.

After learning Jodie was behind the original conflict, Daniel turned to alcohol. Sean Tully, following Adam Barlow’s suggestion, wouldn’t serve him at the pub. Daniel went home and fell asleep on the couch, not realizing his son, Bertie, was hungry.
A young man put food wrapped in aluminum foil into the microwave without realizing it was dangerous. When it started to spark, he quickly left his apartment, leaving Daniel asleep inside.
Adam and Tracy Barlow were surprised to find Bertie at their door and decided to get back at Daniel. Adam turned off the fire alarm and left Daniel by himself as part of their plan.
Today’s episode opened with him waking up in a panic after receiving a call from Bessie Street Primary School asking where Bertie was. He frantically searched the apartment for him, then realized the front door had been left open.
Daniel rushed into the street, asking Ken to join the search. At the police station, he ran into Tracy, who hinted that she knew Bertie’s location.
A heated argument erupted at the Barlows’ house, leading Alya Nazir to ask Bertie to leave. Tracy pointed out that Daniel’s behavior mirrored what their brother Peter did 17 years ago when he left his son, Simon, in a difficult situation.

Adam believed his nephew hadn’t respected his late wife, Sinead’s (Katie McGlynn), requests. He pointed out that if the microwave had malfunctioned, Bertie would have been left without parents.
Daniel was so angry that someone was using Sinead’s memory to try and control the situation that he reacted impulsively, intending to hit someone. However, he mistakenly elbowed Ken in the face, causing the older man to fall onto the sofa, holding his nose in pain.
Honestly, even though he seemed alright, the man insisted Daniel leave. He made it clear Bertie wouldn’t be coming back until Daniel showed some real accountability for what he’d done. It felt less about immediate anger and more about making a point – a rather cold one, at that.
Will Daniel be able to get back onto the right path?
