God of War Laufey Isn’t Years Away Despite Lack of Release Window – Rumor

The highly anticipated return of God of War was showcased in the recent State of Play, though not quite as expected. The new game, God of War Laufey, which stars Kratos’ wife Faye, impressed viewers with over 20 minutes of gameplay. However, fans were left hoping for a confirmed release date.

Don’t worry if you’re thinking this is still a long way off – there’s positive news! According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the lack of a specific release date doesn’t mean the game is years away. This supports earlier reports suggesting a launch in the first half of 2027, although a delay could still happen.

The game Laufey is set in a unique world called the Everywhen, the source and destination of all magic. After mysteriously waking up after her own funeral and finding herself stuck there, Faye encounters powerful figures from mythology – including Sekhmet and Begtse – and hints suggest even more deities from Chinese and Japanese folklore will appear.

Faye receives help from Phranque, a thinking cube, and Rue, who protects a strange sword. After a fight with Begtse, which she appears to win, Faye’s real quest begins: finding her way back to Kratos and Atreus, and maybe even bringing magic back to the Everywhen.

The newest installment, God of War Laufey, will be available only on PlayStation 5. Ariel Lawrence is directing the game, while Cory Barlog is now leading the creative direction for the God of War series at Sony Santa Monica, focusing on its future. We’ll share more details soon.

Just so you know, I don’t think the lack of a release date for the God of War Laufey game is a cause for concern. Unlike many other big game announcements, this one isn’t likely to be years off.
