C’mon, c’mon, c’mon, don’t take aim at Luke Bryan.
A well-known performer in country music and judge on American Idol was struck by something thrown during his closing act of “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” at the North Dakota State Fair, making him the most recent musician to experience such an incident while performing.
In a TikTok video posted on July 27th, Luke was hit with what seemed like a small plush toy while performing the last lines of his 2011 hit song. Despite being momentarily thrown off by the impact and taking a step back to regain balance, he smoothly carried on singing without skipping a beat.
As the fan who shared the video wrote in the caption, “Carried on like a champ.”
Meanwhile, other fans expressed disappointment that Luke was hit at all.
One viewer commented underneath the video, ‘This is likely why we don’t receive superior performances at the fair.’ They expressed their frustration, stating, ‘I absolutely despise people. There’s no justification for such behavior.’
It’s not just Luke who has experienced this; even stars like Steve Lacy and Taylor Swift have voiced their concerns about the impact of audience members throwing items during performances.
In response to being struck by a disposable camera during a 2022 performance, the artist known for “Bad Habits” chose to defend his action by continuing to uphold his decision to break it.
Back in the day, folks gave me a hard time over it, but now they’re saying, “Boy, were we off base! We should have heeded Steve’s advice!” In an interview with Variety back in 2023, Steve himself declared, “I didn’t issue an apology for that because I wasn’t wrong!
Additionally, Taylor mentioned that fans tossing items onto the stage makes her extremely uncomfortable, using the fan gesture specifically as an example.
Taylor pointed out during her 2023 Eras Tour performance in Buenos Aires, ‘If something’s on the stage, a dancer might stumble over it.’ She appreciated the gifts brought by the audience, but kindly requested they avoid tossing them onto the stage. Her affection for everyone was evident.

At the closing act of “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” during the North Dakota State Fair in 2025, the American Idol judge experienced an unexpected incident when something was thrown at him. Remarkably, the artist remained calm and carried on, completing the song flawlessly.
As one fan noted, “Carried on like a champ.”
During one of their shows in California on their 2023 tour, a Jonas Brothers band member appealed for help and asked fans to cease throwing items onto the stage because two wristbands nearly struck him after being tossed by the audience.
It appears there may have been some confusion, as Cardi B made it known she was not pleased when a spectator in the front row spilled their drink on her during her performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas, July 2023. In response, Cardi threw her microphone.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department stated that an unidentified woman filed a battery report the day following the concert, however, no arrest or citations have been made to date. In August 2023, Cardi’s legal team informed TMZ that authorities have decided not to press charges against the singer.
Regardless of what transpires, Baby (Bebe Rexha) is set for an incredible evening at her upcoming show in NYC. Unfortunately, during a June 2023 performance, a spectator hurled a phone at her, resulting in a minor injury to her eye. She posted a photo of the incident on social media, reassuring fans that she was okay.
Lawyer Todd A Spodek, representing Nicolas Malvagna, who was taken into custody and charged with assault, told TMZ that Malvagna’s sole objective as a fan was to have Bebe Rexha take photos with his phone as a memento, and he never intended to harm her.
Kelsea Ballerini was not particularly amused when someone tossed jewelry onto the stage during her June 2023 performance in Idaho. She shared on Instagram Stories a few days later that a bracelet was thrown at her and hit her in the eyes, causing more fright than pain.
Pay attention, she isn’t overly nice. Ava Max had some strong words for the man who attacked her during an L.A. show in June 2023. “He hit me so forcefully that he scraped the inner part of my eye,” the “Sweet and a Bit Crazy” artist shared on Twitter. “He will never attend one of my performances again.
Pink, who was performing at London’s British Summer Time Festival in 2023, found it quite touching when someone handed her a wheel of Brie during her set. “What the heck,” she exclaimed, as she took hold of the dairy product. “I want to plant a kiss right on your lips.”
The following day, another fan tossed a bag of ashes at her. “Is this your mom?” Pink inquired. She seemed puzzled about how to react to this unexpected gesture.
It seems like an unusual incident during Harry Styles’ Love on Tour – even Skittles rained down at a 2022 LA show! Later, the Skittles brand’s representative tweeted, “I never thought I’d have to say this: Please refrain from throwing Skittles.
In the realm of concerts at a February 2022 performance, a devoted fan took it a step too far by hurling a pair of fake breasts towards me, none other than Billie Eilish. But as seven-time Grammy winner that I am, I demonstrated an unwavering composure under pressure, swiftly returning the projectiles to the audience and continuing with the show unfazed.
Friends, let me clarify. At his 2022 Rolling Loud performance, Kid Cudi warned the crowd saying, “If you continue to toss objects on stage, I’m walking off.” True to his words, after being hit with another item, he decided to exit the stage.
Ariana Grande fans were left with a bitter taste when a lemon hit her during her Coachella performance in 2019. Despite not appearing too thrilled about it, she handled the situation gracefully, picking up the fruit and jokingly addressing the crowd, “Someone threw a lemon at me, what the heck!
