James Handy, a well-known actor from films like Top Gun: Maverick and Jumanji, was fatally stabbed on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in the Tarzana area of Los Angeles. Police say the suspect is Michael Gledhill, 44, the son of Handy’s girlfriend.
On Wednesday morning, June 3, 2026, police were called to a home in Tarzana regarding a possible issue. They found a man, later identified as Handy, in the front yard with a life-threatening stab wound. He was taken to the hospital but sadly died shortly after arriving.
According to Variety, the Los Angeles Police Department reported that on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, around 9:30 a.m., officers responded to a call near the 19200 block of Erwin Street. The person who called 911 reportedly said, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”
Police say they believe this was a one-time event and the public is currently safe.
Authorities suspect Michael Gledhill, 44, the son of actor Handy’s girlfriend, of fatally stabbing the veteran actor. Gledhill, who shared a home with his mother and Handy, was arrested and charged with murder. His bail has been set at $2 million.
