Hogwarts Legacy 2 Update Is Bad News for Harry Potter Fans

It looks like we might have to wait longer for Hogwarts Legacy 2 than expected. Recent rumors suggested an announcement at either PlayStation’s State of Play or Summer Games Fest, but it doesn’t seem like that’s happening. This raises doubts about whether the game will launch next year, as many fans believe. Considering how Warner Bros. Games marketed the original Hogwarts Legacy and its other major titles, a reveal would likely have happened by now if the release was planned for the first half of next year.

The only remaining chance to learn about this game this month is at the Xbox showcase on June 7th. However, PlayStation previously handled marketing for the first game, and it’s unclear if they’ll do so for the second. A switch from PlayStation marketing to Xbox marketing seems unlikely. Because of this, we don’t anticipate an announcement at the Xbox event. This trio of shows seemed like the most likely place for a summer reveal, so if it doesn’t happen now, a reveal is probably far off. That likely means the game’s release is also further away than we thought.

September 1 Reveal Date?

It looks unlikely we’ll see news about Hogwarts Legacy 2 this summer. The next likely date for an announcement is September 1st, known as Back to Hogwarts Day, unless PlayStation plans another reveal during a State of Play event. If PlayStation does have a reveal planned, we probably won’t hear anything until September or October, when the last major State of Play is expected.

As a huge fan of the first game, I was really hoping we’d see Hogwarts Legacy 2 in the first six months of 2027, especially with the recent buzz. But honestly, a 2027 release is starting to feel less and less likely now. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, but I’m preparing for a longer wait!

Currently, everything about a potential Hogwarts Legacy 2 is just guesswork. It seems unlikely we’ll hear any official news about it this summer. Beyond that, it’s really impossible to predict what will happen.

So, that’s my take! I’d love to hear what you think, though – definitely leave a comment and let me know your thoughts. Or, if you’re really wanting to dive into a bigger discussion, come hang out with other gamers over on the ComicBook Forum!
