“My Adventures with Superman” is a fantastic and heartwarming return to the world of Superman, offering a fresh and exciting take for DC fans. David Corenswet successfully brought Superman back to life on the big screen in 2025, and he’ll be back alongside Milly Alcock as Supergirl in 2026. They’ll both team up with Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor in 2027’s “Man of Tomorrow.” Notably, season 3 of “My Adventures with Superman” brings all these characters and storylines together before those upcoming movies, making it a perfect watch for any Superman enthusiast.
Jack Quaid is back as Superman in the animated series following his work on The Boys, and Kiana Madeira returns as Supergirl, along with the rest of the main cast. Season 2 of My Adventures with Superman ended with Superman and Supergirl defeating Brainiac, Amanda Waller getting away, and Lex Luthor hiring Deathstroke. Season 3 picks up these stories, focusing on Luthor’s plans, Supergirl adjusting to life on Earth, and a major turning point for Superman.
If you enjoyed the first two seasons, you’ll find season 3 of My Adventures with Superman delivers the same exciting action, high-stakes drama, beautiful animation, touching moments, compelling villains, and lovable characters. While the first five episodes were particularly strong, the whole season is still very enjoyable. If you’re looking for a powerful Superman story, season 3 provides exactly that. And with the upcoming Supergirl movie starring Milly Alcock, this animated series is a great way to get ready for it.
My Adventures With Superman Season 3 Treats DC Characters Well & Explores A Major Storyline
The animated series My Adventures with Superman expertly blends well-known DC characters with lesser-known ones, always handling them with care and updating their stories and appearances. Season 3 continues this trend. Similar to the upcoming Supergirl movie, the series portrays Supergirl, created by Madeleine Madeira, as a complex character struggling to adapt to life on Earth. This makes sense, considering she spent her life serving the villainous Brainiac as a father figure. Supergirl’s storyline is one of the most compelling of the season.
Lex Luthor, voiced by Max Mittelman, becomes a central figure in the third season of the DC series after playing a smaller role in the first two. While he isn’t portrayed as a typical villain, his inventions are responsible for the season’s major conflicts. The dynamic between Lex and Slade Wilson (Chris Parnell) provides some much-needed humor in what is a surprisingly intense season. Adding to the challenges is Cyborg Superman, a powerful new villain who significantly raises the stakes.
Following his involvement with Brainiac in season 2, Hank Henshaw transforms into Cyborg Superman in season 3, adapting the “Reign of the Supermen” storyline from DC Comics. While the show draws inspiration from the comics, it offers a unique take on the events, introducing several different characters who take on the role of Superman. The most significant addition is Superboy, and he’s excellently portrayed. With Supergirl already established in season 2, the series continues to expand the Superman family of characters.
Darren Criss, best known for his role as Blaine in Glee and recently the voice of Superman in DC’s animated Tomorrowverse, voices Superboy in season 3 of My Adventures with Superman. Fans loved his portrayal of Superman, and he brings a fresh energy to the role of Superboy. This version of Superboy is funny, likable, and a standout character in the new season. He shakes up the dynamic between the main characters and helps move the story in exciting, emotionally resonant directions.
As the season progresses, Criss gets more involved with the Superboy storyline, revealing a new side to the character. Through quieter, more emotional scenes, the actor proves he was perfectly cast in the role. Meanwhile, Clark Kent, played by Quaid, and Alice Lee’s Lois Lane experience a significant arc in season 3. Their relationship, central to the series, is explored as they reflect on their past choices and consider their future together.
My Adventures With Superman Season 3 Is A Tale Of Two Halves
I thoroughly enjoyed season 3 of My Adventures with Superman, though the show takes a significant turn around the middle of the season, creating a noticeable difference between the first and second halves. After thinking about it, I actually think the first five episodes are stronger. They do a great job setting up the main conflict, developing the characters, and showcasing Superman at his peak, plus Superboy’s introduction is a real highlight. Unfortunately, the storyline feels drawn out and loses some momentum in the final five episodes.
I get what the creators of the DC series were trying to do, and it definitely has its emotional moments, but Superman feels less central. David Quaid’s portrayal of the character is so strong and captivating that it actually works against the show. Despite this, the My Adventures with Superman season 3 finale delivers on the epic scale promised by earlier episodes, and the latter half features some unexpected returns, including one major event I didn’t see coming.
The third season of My Adventures with Superman ends with two big surprises that hint at what’s next for the show, potentially in a fourth season. One sets up a brand-new villain who promises to be Superman’s most frightening challenge yet, and I’m excited to see how that plays out. The other is a major development that fans will love and will fundamentally change the series for the better. Despite some inconsistencies, season 3 is overall a success for the DC show.
Season 3 of My Adventures with Superman premieres on June 13th at midnight Eastern and Pacific time on Adult Swim’s Toonami, and will be available on HBO Max starting June 14th.
