Crazy Taxi: World Tour Developers Used Generative AI for Background Assets, Says Sega

Sega has announced that they used artificial intelligence (AI) to help create the upcoming game, Crazy Taxi: World Tour. They shared this information on the game’s Steam page in a section detailing AI-generated content. However, Sega clarified that AI tools weren’t used to create the voice acting or character performances in the game.

Sega is using AI tools to help its developers create better games and focus on the creative side of their work. The company confirmed they used these tools during the development of Crazy Taxi: World Tour, but emphasized that AI wasn’t involved in creating the game’s characters.

The company explained further in a statement to Game Informer, largely echoing its previous announcement on Steam about AI-generated content. It confirmed that generative AI was used to create some background elements in Crazy Taxi: World Tour, but emphasized that the game’s developers reviewed everything before it was included in the game.

Sega stated that they used generative AI to help create some of the background elements for ‘Crazy Taxi: World Tour,’ but all AI-generated content was reviewed by their development team. They also confirmed that AI was not used to create any of the characters in the game.

Over the weekend, Sega officially revealed Crazy Taxi: World Tour with a new gameplay trailer. The trailer confirmed the return of many features from the original Crazy Taxi, including popular songs like The Offspring’s “All I Want,” which was featured in the trailer itself.

Okay, so I’ve been checking out the details on Crazy Taxi: World Tour, and it sounds like they’re really sticking to what made the original so awesome – super-fast, arcade-style driving! Basically, you’ll be picking up passengers and racing them around the city to get them where they need to go. But the fun part is how you get them there! They’re encouraging us to be totally reckless – think drifting around corners, jumping over stuff, and narrowly avoiding traffic. The trailer showed off San Francisco, which looks amazing, but it also teased that we’ll be driving around in cities all over the world, which is seriously exciting!

Sega has announced that Crazy Taxi: World Tour will feature several online multiplayer options. While specific details are still upcoming, Sega says players will be able to compete with each other across all platforms and describes the multiplayer experience as fast-paced and exciting.

Okay, so I just heard some awesome news! Crazy Taxi: World Tour is finally coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and even the Switch 2! They haven’t said exactly when in 2027 it’ll drop, but sometime then! This is huge because it’s the first proper Crazy Taxi game we’ve gotten since Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller way back in 2002 (on Xbox) and 2004 (on PC). There have been a bunch of Crazy Taxi games for phones over the years, but this is the real deal! I’m so hyped!
