Crystal Kung Minkoff Reveals Why She’d Return to RHOBH After Exit

Crystal Kung Minkoff is keeping it real.

The host of the Humble Brag podcast recently shared that she would consider coming back to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, two years after leaving the show.

Crystal explained to TopMob News at the Race to Erase MS Gala that she needed some time to process things after seeing rumors circulating. Her co-host on Humble Brag, Cynthia Bailey, noticed the rumors and brought them to her attention, which led to discussion. Crystal added that questions about past Housewives cast members often come up.

It took me a couple of years to even consider doing it again, but this year I’ve found myself wondering what I would have done differently. I hadn’t thought about it at all last year, so I think that was the key. It didn’t seem like a big deal at the time, but it ended up sticking with me.

Another reason why she’d consider returning to the franchise?

She shared her love for Bravo and the overall experience, explaining that being on the show Humble Brag allows her to be her authentic self, which is what matters most to her.

As a huge fan, I was really surprised to hear her talking about potentially coming back to Bravo so soon after leaving RHOBH last year. It feels like just days since she announced her departure, and now she’s hinting at a return! It’s definitely interesting to see where this goes.

During the June 1st episode of the Humble Brag podcast, the 43-year-old explained that she’s constantly discussing potential projects at Bravo, working on small things as they come up.

Oh my gosh, she said she’d totally consider going back! She keeps dreaming about playing a friend again – she actually called it the ideal role! It all hinges on who else is involved, of course, but she genuinely thinks she’s ready now. Finally! I’m seriously losing it, this is amazing! She’s ready, you guys, she’s READY!

Until then, Crystal is enjoying her time as a viewer of the show.

I used to watch several of the Housewives shows, but I stopped when I became a cast member myself – I knew how everything was produced. Now, I can watch and enjoy it with a bit of behind-the-scenes knowledge.”

She explained that watching the show is much more enjoyable now because it feels like solving a mystery. She finds herself questioning what happened and trying to understand everything, which makes it a fun experience.

For a ranking of the most iconic ladies in Housewives history, read on…

Bravo’s reality show about Washington D.C. featured four women—Mary Amons, Lynda Erkiletian, Cat Ommanney, and Stacie Scott Turner—who didn’t exactly make a lasting impression. And then there was one woman who was so eager for attention that she actually crashed a party at the White House. We’ll get to her story shortly.

Who?

Vaguely familiar, but…

Once upon a time, DeShawn starred on the same TV show as NeNe Leakes. Surprising, we know.

This one-season Housewife brought nothing to the Orange County table.

The newest cast member on The Real Housewives of Utah had a dramatic and short run on the show. In January 2022, Jennie was let go after old, offensive Facebook posts with racially insensitive content were discovered online. She did issue an apology, but the show decided to remove her from the cast.

Her defining trait was “cougar.”

Dr. Jen didn’t cause much drama in season 16, and her short-lived marriage issues with her husband, Ryne, weren’t very exciting. But we’ll always remember when she got noticeably drunk on wine at the Dubrows’ incredibly awkward, but surprisingly fun, dinner party.

The nurse anesthetist’s show had a disastrous first season, best remembered for a single, embarrassing incident – now unfortunately known as ‘Esophagus-gate’.

Katie frequently talked about her charitable efforts, but she didn’t really engage much when filming. She made brief appearances and didn’t offer much support to the other cast members. Leaving the cast trip early was a major breach of etiquette for a Housewives cast member.

Charrisse is mostly remembered for her highly publicized marital issues during her two seasons on the show, and, of course, her famous champagne room.

A one-and-done Housewife, Shamari was at least fun?

Although it was refreshing to see some diversity on The Real Housewives of Orange County, Peggy became a difficult cast member in season 12. She frequently started strange arguments, often over simple misunderstandings, and her decision to isolate herself during the Iceland trip showed she wasn’t well-suited for the show’s lifestyle.

Nneka’s first season on the show focused on a surprising and dramatic conflict: she claimed Wendy Osefo’s mother practiced witchcraft. It was a shame, as it would have been great to see Nneka and Wendy connect over their Nigerian heritage instead of being caught in this unresolved feud.

Noella brought a whirlwind of energy to season 16. Although viewers sympathized with her personal difficulties – her husband, James, unexpectedly filed for divorce just before filming began – it was her ongoing conflict with Heather Dubrow that kept her from being seen as the least interesting cast member. Perhaps with more time on the show, viewers will connect with Noella.

She went from being a peacemaker in her first season to facing accusations of anti-Semitism and complaining about a cake fight in her second—and final—season. It’s hard to think of a Real Housewife who lost popularity so quickly.

Honestly, watching Amber and Jim was just… painful. Everything they did felt like they were trying way too hard, you know? And Jim? He was always right in the middle of all the craziness, way more than Amber was. It just gave off such a bad vibe, and honestly, it didn’t sit right with me. It felt… desperate, and not in a good way.

From what everyone recalls, Karent was a dentist, but her colleagues didn’t seem to get along with her. Moving on!

This was a real person with a show on Bravo. We promise.

Jules was only on RHONY for one season, so it’s hard to place her higher on a ranking list. Still, she definitely brought the drama during her time on the show.

It’s rare for a new cast member to be disliked so quickly, but Amanda Francis, who joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in season 15, managed to do just that. Many Bravo viewers didn’t seem to warm up to her right away.

Amanda, who is a financial advisor and calls herself the “Money Queen,” didn’t make a good impression on either her fellow cast members or viewers. People were turned off by her focus on possessions and the advice she gave about money.

What really showed she wasn’t cut out to be a Housewife was her unwillingness to argue or confront her fellow cast members. Being a Housewife is a tough role, and it’s simply not for everyone.

So unnecessary they couldn’t even get individual taglines.

Similar to Sara Al Madani, Nina was a successful and well-rounded Arab woman who skillfully combined modern living with her cultural heritage. She generally stayed out of the drama during the first season and, at times, didn’t get as much attention as some of the more outgoing cast members.

Taleen joined the second season of RHODubai and made a positive impression, but it’s hard to fully evaluate her after just one season on the show.

Angel’s time on the show was a complete disaster. As the wife of former NFL player Bobby Massie, she struggled throughout season 10, constantly failing to connect with the other, more established cast members who seemed to enjoy watching her attempts fall flat.

Even though things didn’t go perfectly, it’s quite a story that her glamping trip in Colorado resulted in the whole group getting lost and having to eat gas station food.

Definitely a first for the Housewives.

As a longtime fan, I remember when Brittany Daniel came onto Real Housewives of Atlanta after being on America’s Next Top Model. Honestly, she didn’t make a huge splash, and it felt like she was pregnant the whole time she was on the show! But I have to give her credit – that read she gave Marlo Hampton while they were in Tokyo was absolutely iconic. I still think about it!

Generally, we like to see how a new Housewife does over at least one full season before ranking them highly. However, Katie made a huge impact right away on season 18 of RHOC, immediately challenging veteran Housewife Heather Dubrow. It’s bold to question someone as established as Heather!

Okay, let’s be real – Stephanie just didn’t quite fit into the lifestyle I champion. While she certainly had the potential to be a fantastic Housewife – the wealth was there! – the way she constantly flaunted her private jet and used it to control the other women on season seven? It honestly left a bad taste in my mouth. It’s about genuine connection, not flexing assets, and that felt…off.

Maybe Steph can redeem herself if she returns for season eight.

Sara was known for being optimistic and positive, which made her a joy to be around, though things were usually quite calm around her—except for the time she gave her co-star, Caroline Brooks, some unsolicited parenting advice. More importantly, she challenged common ideas about Muslim women in the Middle East, and we admire her for that.

The new cast members on season 13 of RHONJ quickly fell into familiar patterns for Garden State Housewives, getting caught up in a season-long argument that everyone, including Andy Cohen, agreed was trivial. Sadly, their second season didn’t offer much more depth.
