Here’s a strange update: Ninja Theory has changed the name of their game from Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 back to Hellblade 2: Senua’s Saga. And they’ve decided to avoid using Roman numerals in the title because it’s better for online searches.
It seems this change aims to distinguish the next game in the series from Senua, which appears to be a standalone title.
In a post on Xbox Wire, head of Xbox Dom Matthews explained the new game as an ‘additive’ adventure, meaning you can enjoy it even if you haven’t played the earlier games in the series.
He explained:
The game is designed to be accessible for both longtime Hellblade fans and newcomers. Even if you’re unfamiliar with the series, you’ll easily understand the story and what’s happening. We hope both existing fans and new players will enjoy it equally.
I always found the title ‘Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2’ a bit strange, so I’m not surprised Ninja Theory is changing it now, even after several years.
It’s not a major issue, but I noticed something strange with the branding after the Xbox Showcase.
