He dropped a hint on Instagram yesterday, mentioning that Mattel was thrilled with the deeply personal story he’s crafted for the film. Sounds like he’s putting a lot of himself into this one, which could be a really smart move for a property like Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots.

The post mentioned several projects currently being worked on, including Riddick, Kaulder starring Sir Michael, and Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em, which the author felt a personal connection to and Mattel approved of. This news comes after the recent movie Masters of the Universe, which, like it, is based on Mattel toys. Apple is also making a Matchbox movie starring John Cena (known for Peacemaker), scheduled for release on October 9, 2026. Additionally, movies based on Barney and other Mattel properties are in development.
