Pearl Abyss continues to actively support its game, Crimson Desert, with regular updates, and plans to keep doing so for the foreseeable future. Will Powers, the studio’s PR and marketing director, told Dexerto that these updates are a valuable way to promote the game, and will continue “as long as players are interested.”
As a gamer, it’s awesome to see Pearl Abyss really supporting their single-player games. They’ve built a reputation with MMOs, which need constant updates and new content, and they’re bringing that same dedication to these new titles. Honestly, a lot of us who mainly play single-player games aren’t used to developers giving this much post-launch attention, so it’s a really refreshing change!
He explained that this game is different from what gamers typically expect, as it offers ongoing, free content even after release. He added that keeping a large and active player base – and consistently ranking high on Steam – is a fantastic way to promote the game.
Look, as a player, it makes a huge difference when a game keeps getting updates and support. It really shows you they appreciate us sticking around and investing our time. Plus, it’s smart for the developers too – constantly adding new stuff is the marketing. Instead of paying for ads, they’re just making the game better, and that gets people talking and keeps us all hooked!
Besides keeping the game in the public eye through marketing, Pearl Abyss sees the ongoing updates to Crimson Desert as a direct way to show appreciation to its player community, according to Powers.
He emphasized that the game Black Desert wouldn’t exist without its community, and Crimson Desert relies on Black Desert‘s success. Therefore, the company’s primary focus is supporting its players, as their fans are essential to its survival. They truly depend on their community for everything.
Regarding future content for Crimson Desert, Pearl Abyss’s Jin Seok Powers stated that the upcoming downloadable content will be significantly different than previous expansions. He didn’t share any specific information about what players can expect, however.
Earlier this month, Pearl Abyss announced the new DLC and shared plans for future updates to Crimson Desert. The developers described the DLC as a significant addition to the game. They also stated they are working to improve the story, which has been a major concern for players.
The team said they’ve been looking closely at player feedback about the story. To make Kliff’s journey more captivating and easier to follow, they’re working on polishing and connecting the most important parts of the game.
The studio is also working on more challenging content for players that enjoy the combat systems in Crimson Desert, and said that it would give these players a way to “prove their true strength as a Greymane.”
