The beginning of June was packed with announcements and trailers for new games. Big companies like PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo all had their own presentations, and the Summer Game Fest added even more to the mix. During a truly packed Nintendo Direct showcase on June 9th, we got a first look at One Piece: Grand Gourmet. This stunning pixel art game features over 400 characters from One Piece, and a premise that’s perfect for longtime fans and newcomers alike. One Piece: Grand Gourmet is a single-player cooking management sim, and it’s joining Bancho the Chefon my wishlist from this year’s Summer Game Fest lineup. Better yet, Grand Gourmet already has a release date. It will hit PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, iOS, and Android on October 23rd.
One Piece: Grand Gourmet Sets Sail for Nintendo Switch & Switch 2 This October
The biggest thing from Summer Game Fest was how crowded September is becoming with new game releases. With Grand Theft Auto 6 scheduled for November, a lot of developers are choosing to release their games further away. This actually leaves October surprisingly open, making the October release date for the new One Piece management sim, One Piece: Grand Gourmet, ideal. So, what can fans look forward to when it launches on October 23rd?
Players will team up with the Straw Hat Crew to build and manage a floating restaurant on the Baratie Number Two. The main gameplay involves gathering ingredients, inventing new recipes, and designing the perfect restaurant. Even if you’re not familiar with One Piece, the game offers a strong cooking simulation experience, but it’s especially designed to please fans of the series.
The game will feature over 400 characters from One Piece, beautifully reimagined in pixel art for the very first time. You’ll be able to add some of them to your crew, while others will visit as customers – and with good service, they might become regulars! If you enjoy cooking games and are a fan of One Piece, this game could easily become your favorite of the year. The gameplay looks fantastic – it’s a pixel art restaurant management dream! You’ll team up with Sanji to develop new recipes as you grow your restaurant. What makes One Piece especially great for a cooking sim is the amazing food – the animations look delicious! The menu will feature dishes from the anime, as well as new creations, some even inspired by the Devil Fruits. If you prefer decorating to cooking, you’ll have plenty of options – you can customize your floating restaurant with over 200 different furniture and decor items.
One Piece: Grand Gourmet will be available on October 23rd for PC (through Steam), Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and mobile devices. You can pre-order the game now on Steam for $20, and it will be available for pre-order on the Nintendo eShop soon.
