Coronation Street airs killer flashback for Gary Windass as the pressure over Theo’s murder mounts in early ITVX release

Did Gary Windass (Mikey North) kill Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) in Coronation Street?

Well, it certainly seems that way, after a particularly telling flashback in today’s episode.

After months of guessing sparked by a brief scene in February, the mystery of Theo’s disappearance ended when his body was discovered in the backyard of the corner shop. Betsy Swain (played by Sydney Martin) made the discovery, concluding a dramatic week of revelations focused on the murder.

Just as one murder case was wrapping up, another mystery started: who is the new suspect? Several people in Weatherfield have been questioned by the police, but so far, only Summer Spellman has been formally accused.

She had a terrible two weeks in jail, maintaining her innocence. Thankfully, Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) came forward and testified that he saw Theo still alive after Summer had left his apartment, which led to her being freed.

Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts, remains suspicious of Gary, believing Gary isn’t telling the whole truth.

As a big fan of the show, I’m really intrigued by this new twist! It seemed like my guy, Gary Windass, had a solid alibi with his wife, Maria, saying they were together the night Theo died. But now, Maria’s starting to question things – she’s not so sure about where Gary really was and how close he was to his ex, Sarah Platt. It’s adding a whole new layer of suspicion, and I can’t wait to see where it goes!

She became more suspicious today after learning he’d spent the morning with Sarah again. Gary was repairing some drawers at the office, and Sean Tully noticed Sarah closing the blinds, seemingly to keep them private.

At the Rovers pub, Tyrone overheard some customers discussing Theo’s murder. He quickly jumped in to say he didn’t believe Summer was responsible, but the men corrected him – they were actually talking about the World Cup.

The mention of Theo’s demise unnerved Gary, and with Kit just metres away, he had to stay calm.

When Todd unexpectedly confronted Tyrone about the delay in helping Summer, Kit observed Gary’s discomfort. Gary subtly warned Tyrone that he was aware of his actions and was keeping a close eye on him.

The episode concluded with a return to the crime scene. Gary was shown standing on some scaffolding above Theo’s body, cleaning blood off a metal pole.

Is he the killer, and does Sarah know what he’s done?

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 or can be streamed from 7am on ITVX.
