Next James Bond favourite Callum Turner breaks silence on casting rumours – as Hollywood icon backs him for 007

Callum Turner has spoken about the possibility of becoming the next James Bond, and a major Hollywood star is already supporting him for the part.

Following Daniel Craig’s departure after ‘No Time To Die’, 36-year-old actor is now a leading contender to play James Bond in the next film. While still in the planning stages, the new movie is generating a lot of excitement, thanks to the involvement of acclaimed director Denis Villeneuve (‘Dune’) and writer Steven Knight (‘Peaky Blinders’).

Ever since Craig began suggesting he might leave, back in 2016, there’s been constant speculation about who would take over the role. Actors like Idris Elba, Aidan Turner, and Jacob Elordi were just a few of the names frequently mentioned as possible replacements.

Okay, so the buzz is really building around Aaron Turner now. Ever since Amazon MGM officially announced they were starting the search for the next James Bond back in May, he’s quickly become a top contender – a real frontrunner, if you will. It feels like he’s jumped to the top of everyone’s list.

Nina Gold, a highly respected casting director known for her work on popular shows like Game of Thrones, The Crown, and Star Wars, has been brought in to assist in the search for the next James Bond, following Daniel Craig’s departure.

However, Turner has kept tight-lipped about being linked to the role… until now.

When asked by The Hollywood Reporter, Turner stated he had no more information than the public and declined to say if he’d be interested in participating.

It’s funny about being Bond, you know? Even people you haven’t talked to in years – old friends – will reach out and ask about it, and you’re completely surprised!

“It’s such a weird thing of something happening and nothing happening at all.

“I genuinely know nothing. I just find it quite amusing.”

But he’s already got some help lined up for the job – famous actor George Clooney, who also spoke to the publication.

He declared: “I hope Callum ends up being the next Bond. I think he would be a great Bond.

“He’s tall and handsome and charming and British, so he’s the perfect guy to do it.”

A RadioTimes poll asked fans who they’d like to see play the role next, and Henry Cavill (known for The Witcher and Superman) was the most popular choice. Tom Hiddleston, James Norton, Theo James, and Idris Elba also received a lot of support.

Okay, so it sounds like Idris Elba has officially said he’s not going to be the next James Bond. He told GQ the rumors were never true, and honestly, he seemed worried about the potential backlash – he wasn’t sure fans would accept a Black actor in the role. It’s a bit disheartening to hear, but he was pretty clear about where he stands.

Idris Elba said it was always just speculation. He never thought the idea of him playing James Bond was likely, explaining that the character was originally created in a specific way. Still, he was flattered to be considered.

Producers have asked Gold to find a younger actor for the role, with plans to keep them in it for several films.

Bond 26 doesn’t yet have a release date.
