In a recent interview with Variety, Xbox’s Chief Operating Officer, Matt Booty, discussed the current state of the gaming industry. When asked about Todd Howard’s knack for avoiding questions about The Elder Scrolls 6, Booty surprisingly revealed some information about the game’s development.
I’ve had a chance to see what Bethesda is working on with the Elder Scrolls – I visited their studio and saw it in action with Todd – and it’s looking fantastic and progressing nicely. We’ll share more details and a proper reveal when the time is right.
This isn’t a huge reveal or a flashy gameplay trailer, but it’s the most substantial update fans have received about The Elder Scrolls 6 since that initial, short teaser eight years ago. Additionally, these comments shed some light on the difficult position Howard and other leaders are in when it comes to sharing information with fans.
One of the hardest parts of my job is deciding when to share our work with the public. We’re eager to get people excited about what we’re building, but we also need to wait for the perfect time to reveal it, ensuring it’s polished and represents our best effort. Showing the game also creates an expectation that it will be released soon, so timing is crucial.
Considering the hype, Booty’s statements are encouraging. While he still hasn’t revealed details about the highly anticipated open-world fantasy game, The Elder Scrolls 6, it’s good to know Bethesda won’t rush the release just because fans are eager for it.
