What’s behind the Brian Cox remarks?
Over the years of interviewing people in the film industry, we’ve learned that newer, younger stars tend to be very careful with what they say, often resulting in bland interviews. We’ve never been interested in asking trivial questions like someone’s favorite snack. It’s usually the more experienced actors and directors – those with long careers – who are the most entertaining, and we’ve heard some truly outrageous, though unrepeatable, stories. Brian Cox is one of those actors who’s completely comfortable saying whatever’s on his mind, and we’ve collected some of his most controversial remarks!
Here’s those Brian Cox remarks…..
Edward Norton : “A pain in the arse.”
Kevin Spacey : “A stupid, stupid man.”
Margot Robbie in Wuthering Heights: “Margot Robbie is far too beautiful for that role.”
Ian McKellen simply stated that, while the popular Lord of the Rings actor is well-liked, his performances aren’t something he personally enjoys.
Brian Cox revealed he declined a part in the Pirates of the Caribbean films because he didn’t want to work with Johnny Depp, whom he described as excessively dramatic and undeservedly praised.
Gary Oldman and Brian Cox worked together on the film Darkest Hour, where Oldman played Winston Churchill and won an Oscar for his performance. However, Cox wasn’t impressed, dismissing Oldman’s acting as “nonsense” and a showy, chaotic mess – using colorful Scottish slang to express his opinion.
Quentin Tarantino used the word “meretricious” – meaning something that appears appealing but is actually worthless. Director Kevin Cox observed that while most directors respect an actor’s work, a Quentin Tarantino film is entirely shaped by his own vision.
Donald Trump: “Trump doesn’t give a shit about the people. He’s only interested in the oil [in Iran]. There’s just sheer fucking greed motivating him, nothing else. The idea he’s liberating people is a nonsense.”
Jeremy Strong. Cox has called Strong’s method acting “fucking annoying.” ……“I don’t hold a lot of the American shit, having to have a religious experience every time you play a part. It’s crap. The thing about Jeremy’s approach is it works in terms of what comes out the other end. My problem — and, it’s not a problem, I don’t have a problem with Jeremy because he’s delightful. … He’s an extraordinary dad. He’s a pretty unique individual. But, he does get obsessed with the work. And I worry about what it does to him, because if you can’t separate yourself — because you’re dealing with all of this material every day. You can’t live in it. Eventually, you get worn out.” but then added…. “I don’t want to go on about Jeremy, because I’ve got into a lot of problems and he’s begged me to stop talking about him. He’s a good actor, Jeremy.”
As Brian Cox celebrates his 80th birthday, we can expect to hear more memorable comments from the actor.
