The recent trailer for Resident Evil Veronica at Summer Game Fest generated a lot of excitement for the remake, and fans are eager to see more. As expected from Capcom, the presentation was impressive. A follow-up interview with Polygon revealed that the developers are committed to maintaining the original game’s third-person perspective.
I was a little worried after seeing the first trailer for the remake, because it looked like they might be switching to first-person. But the producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, just cleared things up! He said the game will actually feel a lot like the Resident Evil 2 remake, which is amazing news. So, it’s not a perspective shift, just a similar vibe – and I’m totally happy about that!
We haven’t ruled out short sections played from a first-person perspective, similar to the beginning of the Resident Evil 3 remake, where you explored Jill’s apartment that way before being chased by Nemesis. However, don’t anticipate being able to freely switch between first- and third-person views during the game, unlike in Resident Evil Requiem.
We’re really excited about this game and are anticipating a release date that could be one of the unannounced titles Capcom hinted at earlier this month. It’s currently planned to launch in 2027 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
