Sci-fi spectacular Project Hail Mary has been one of the major big screen success stories of the year so far – and having previously had it’s streaming debut pushed back to extend the theatrical run, we now have new details about a home release.
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s new film will start streaming on MGM+ next Thursday, June 18th. It will also be available on Prime Video at some point, though a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Meanwhile, the film is already available to rent and buy on a number of VOD platforms – including Prime Video and YouTube – with prices currently starting at £4.99 for rental and £9.99 for purchase.

In April, Miller announced on X (formerly Twitter) that MGM decided to keep the movie “Project Hail Mary” in theaters for longer, meaning it wouldn’t be available to stream right away.
The highly praised movie is based on Andy Weir’s popular novel and stars Ryan Gosling as astronaut Ryland Grace. He wakes up in space after a coma, completely confused about his identity, location, and the purpose of his mission.
Throughout the film – and with help from some extended flashbacks – we slowly learn the vital nature of his mission, while he also bonds with an adorable, rock-based alien named Rocky whose been sent to outer space by his own planet for a similar goal.
In our 4-star review of the film, TopMob called it “science fiction with a reassuring soul, where the sombre comes bearing a smile, and the vastness of space is never quite so scary when you’re sharing it with a new pal.”
Currently, the film is the third highest-grossing film of the year at the global box office – behind only The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Michael – having made a total of $681 million.
Project Hail Mary is now showing in UK cinemas.
